I went to put my iTunes library on my iPhone. It said that the iPhone needs iTunes10 to work. Great. Fine. I go download iTunes10 but it says my operating system is too old!!!!! Grrrrrrrrr. A new operating system is $129 freaking dollars. Double grrr. I love Apple products and have never had a single problem with anything I've had but it bugs me that eventually you have NO CHOICE but to buy more stuff to keep using everything.

Re: My one Apple vent.
I think that is true with any computer product. Eventually you have to upgrade to keep things compatible. Sucks, but that isn't specific to Apple.
My one Apple vent...
The iPhones don't have radio. Yes, I have iheartradio, but I shouldn't have to, it eats up data. Yes, the last two Nano iPods have had radio, but I shouldn't have to have a Nano AND an iPhone.
Huh. I hadn't noticed that. But I can't use iTunes on my phone yet (grrr!). There seems to be so many music piracy lawsuits these days that I wonder if the rules are always changing to accommodate new laws and regulations?
I have an old school Nano that I got a radio tuner for. I wonder if I can use it on my iPhone? I haven't tried yet. A basic radio tuner app would be awesome on the iPhone...but then they couldn't make you go buy the $40 radio tuner (or however much it was.)
I also think it's dumb that phones don't automatically come with a car charger. And most printers don't come with the right cable. SUCH A RACKET!
DH thinks we can both get by on the basic tiny data plan. I'm thinking I won't be able to but don't want to pay a ton for the upgraded plan. Ugh.
I have SUCH a love/hate relationship with technology sometimes.
My DH and I both got the 200 mb plan from AT&T for our iphones. We have both never gone over the data limit, and never really come all that close. I think the trick is to just use whatever wireless connections you can, don't stream much unless you're on a wireless connection (like netflix or youtube videos), and to do any updates and downloads through iTunes on your computer (which sounds like it doesn't help you much!). But it seems like you can pick up wireless hubs anywhere nowadays to save you from using all your data.
Yeah that is what DH suggests too. I thought we had wireless at work but we don't so I have to be careful using it here. We have wireless at home which is good. I will eventually get iTunes. This month is tight budget-wise because we bought counters, tile floor, sink, & faucet for our kitchen and we don't like to put every last thing on our credit card.
I was thinking I could use Pandora at the gym until I get iTunes up and running... would that use data?
I suppose I won't be downloading 30 apps a day like I did the first day I got the phone so that's good. :-)
I was thinking I could use Pandora at the gym until I get iTunes up and running... would that use data?
It will use data unless the gym has wireless (and some do). Also, be careful working out with your iPhone. DH used to workout with his, but discovered it skips a lot due to the mini hard drive thingy (I'm so technical
) in the iPhone being bumped around. The other iPods don't have that (maybe the iTouch, not sure on that one). Just something to watch out for.
Your radio adaptor will not work with your iPhone. Which is really stupid. I guess that is another vent. All the accessories don't interchange. You would think that something for a Nano would be useable with a iPhone, but they aren't.
I have a question...
If you are in an area that has wireless does it automatically go off the wireless? Or do you have to say you want to use the wireless?

Thanks for the info. And LAME about the radio adapter not working. Ugh.

I did just find a work-around for getting my music on my iPhone. I have a PC at work which WILL run iTunes10. I can put my iPod music on my work computer and then transfer to my phone. Annoying, but okay for now until I upgrade at home. :-)
It recognizes our home wireless automatically. In a new wireless network becomes available a window will pop up with the available networks and you can choose one. In the upper left corner it will say either 3G or have the wireless wave symbol. There is a place in settings that says "Ask to join networks". Just make sure that is "ON" and it will let you know when a network is available. Some are private though that you'd need a password for.
Or not. Ugh. My work PC says it wants to reformat my Apple-formatted iPod to run on Windows. Do I want to do this? Will I lose everything??
Today I do NOT love technology.
ETA: No I do NOT want to do that. It says everything would get erased and that would negate the purpose of transferring all the music. Phoooooey.
Half the time even when I update my iPhone on my home computer it deletes crap and then I can't get it back. I've stopped backing up/updating my phone on my computer all together. My boss had to get a brand new phone after updating because it screwed his up so bad.
I don't think they've worked out a great iTunes/iPhone interface yet, which is total bullsh*t since the phone has been out for years now.
I love my phone but I think Apple spends a lot more time raking in their boat loads of cash than actually working on their software.

Your post above has about 10,000 lines of gibberish code after your response. You can't see it?
No, I just see the sad face I posted....weird! Sorry about that
