I used to love my job, love waking up and coming to work, now 2 years later I am unhappy. Not unhappy about my job persay, I still enjoy what I do, and I am very thankful I have a job with todays economy. I just feel like I am not challanged enough. I have a 4 year degree in dietetics, I am a WIC nutritionist, and I feel like I am limited to "what kind of formula do you want" and "beans or peanut butter". I am also beginning to see people who have began working here after me, getting more supervisory roles, and having more responsibility, and I am beginning to wonder why, if there is any hope for advancement.
So my question is has any of you ever felt like this, and what did you do about it?
Re: discontent
Are you willing to be an advocate for change? Make the challenge for yourself. Can you come up with ways to educate people on WIC on alternatives? Teach them about nutrition, come up with some recipes that will be easy and low cost. Show how it is low cost also but providing price lists of the groceries.
I don't know the program so I am not sure if what I suggest is relevant. It sounds like the WIC program is limiting your skills. So turn it around- what do you have to offer WIC? How can you make it a better program? Don't think of it as challenging the government, think of it as local first, start with the individual.
I hope that makes sense...

Ditto. Or, what have you been doing to make sure they know you're interested in promotions.
Exactly. If you notice people moving up, and not you, it's high time to find out why.

I am not an RD yet. I am going to hopefully begin my internship in sept of this year. Which is part of the reason I want to stay here, because the state will pay for it, as long as I commit a year the the program. I however have thought about it. I have actually applied to gyms in the area, but sadly I have to be personal trainer certified, and I do not have the money to do that right now.
What did you end up doing?
