Speaking of grammar...

When we are hiring, I am the one that reads through all the resumes, applications & emails. It stuns me that people do not PROOF their resumes or follow directions.

For example, I will put in our posting, "Put your resume in the body of the email. No attachments will be accepted!" "Tell us your hours of availability & why you think you would be a good fit."
And what do I get? Blank e-mails with attachments. If you can't follow a simple job opening post, how can I expect you to follow any directions here?

And a lot of the ones that actually follow directions misspell things on their resumes, or in their e-mails in general.

Drives me BONKERS!

  • I'm one of those people, I can't stand copy and pasting my resume into the body b/c it looks like crap. I spent a TON of time formatting my resume to look professional and to stand out and I refuse to send it out like it's some list of stuff.

I also hate cover letters, they always come off sounding trite.

  • I agree, Brooke.  When I was applying for jobs, there were some that requested things a specific way and I made sure to do it exactly how they requested because I know if I were an employer who requested the resume in the email, not an attachment, I wouldn't even bother opening up the attachment.  That shows me right there that the person can't follow directions and wouldn't make a good employee.

lol, this is totally something I would do.

I just downloaded a new Chrome app to try and combat the spellcheck issue I'm having on TK, and it does grammar too.  It's pretty awesome (and accurate!).
