The Best Chilled Food I Ever Ate

That's tonight's topic. What is yours?

Mine: Black Raspberry ice cream at Clancy's in San Leandro in Washington Manor (their Peach Cobbler is also awesome)

Re: The Best Chilled Food I Ever Ate

  • More ice cream - Prince Puckler's in Eugene, Oregon. My favorite flavor is Velvet Hammer (homemade chocolate ice cream with ground espresso beans), and you can get the whole thing smothered in the richest dark chocolate sauce ever for like $1 extra.

  • Hmmm...tricky tricky

I'd have to say a Meyer Lemon Ice Cream Sandwich. Ice cream made with meyer lemons and creme fraiche sandwiched between two soft meyer lemon cookies. From Martin's West in Redwood City. To die for!

  • Coldstone Creamery - the first time I ever ate it. It was a magical experience.
  • Hmmm, I really really really love the pine nut rosemary ice cream at Ici in Berkeley. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. Trust me.

This might sound kind of odd but a really really cold, sweet watermelon or cantaloupe in the middle of summer is also one of my favorite things ever.

  • Pomello (grapefruit) gelato from a gelateria in San Giminignano, Italy. It's in the main square and I could find that place with my eyes closed.

  • An ice cream place here had the most amazing ice cream flavor I've ever tasted... it was something like apple brown-sugar maple something-or-other, and it was heaven. It was seasonal, and I couldn't find it this winter, so I don't know if it'll ever be back. Sad.

I loved that place! We waited in quite a line for their gelato and it was completely, amazingly worth it.

  • Hmmm. A toss-up between riso gelato (tastes like rice pudding) and a discontinued 31 Flavors ice cream: Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.

  • hands down the tiramisu at la veranda in clayton ... omg !
