Retail Merchandisers-come in!
I got a phone call about a retail merchandiser job I applied for a couple weeks ago. The manager left a message, and I have to call tomorrow. Anyone have experience? Just wondering what the job entails.
Re: Retail Merchandisers-come in!
I used to work as a merchandise coordinator, I'm not sure if that would be a similar position. I did a lot of planning floor plans, designing displays and the like.
Is this an in store position? Do you have the job description?
Would this be one the corporate side, where you would be creating the designs or would this be store based where you would be implementing packet designs? Is this for a large chain (something like WS or RH or Gap) or this is a local business?
When I worked in merchandising, one of the biggest challenges was using the packets sent to us, and implementing those designs in the stores which never seemed to have the exact same set up available as the packets. Or you did not have the exact merchandise you needed. So it was about being able to tell the story that corporate was presenting, and having the ability to be flexible with the merchandise and display constraints you were facing in the particular store. I loved this work, and I would go back to it in a heart beat, but I'm a teacher and I do enjoy that now as well.
Have fun!
Thanks! The job was listed as part time, but was really 30 plus hours a week (I thought it was going to be 10-12 hours a week to supplement my 32 hour a week job).
Anyhow, I have another interview for a very part time merchandiser position on Weds.
It is restocking magazines, books, etc. in grocery stores and replacing price tags on items.
