S/O: How does your DH react when he's sick?

Because mine is the world's biggest baby. And what's more frustrating is that most of the time he doesn't admit it.

I take care of him, of course, because I love him and want him to feel better. But for goodness sake, when I'm sick I suck it up. I only miss work unless I literally cannot get out of bed.

I will say, though, every once in a while he will say sorry, as in he knows he's being a baby...but then I think it's cute :)

Anyone else have a whiny man baby?

the commercial I referred to in my "am i a bad wife"

This happens EVERY time he's sick....we can have the same virus....he's down for 4 days, I take one day off....and suck it up the rest of the time....

I love him :) women are so much stronger! :)

  • My husband doesn't whine that much or really expect me to baby him, but when he is sick he is out.  Nothing is getting done when he is sick.  He is on the couch and won't do anything.  He doesn't abuse his sick days, but there are probably some days he could go to work and function.

He also has no clue what medication to take and when.  I grew up with a mom that was a nurse so I have that down pat and I am constantly reminding him what he needs to take.

  • Trust me - it could be worse.

I tend to be a very nurturing person, so when he's sick, I want to take care of him.  He, on the other hand, literally wants to be left alone...meaning, don't really even go into the room he's quarantined himself into, even if it means feeding him.  He also turns into a complete grump, which frustrates me.

I talked to his sister about it, and she said he's always been that way.  He knows how much it aggravates me, so I think he's trying to get better...but he has a long way to go.

And, yes, he gets absolutely zero done (until it comes to work, in which case, that's top priority, which I suppose is a good thing).

  • Funny you should ask...

Chavis is really sick right now, which is rare for him, so when he is it's a big deal.  The other night he was burning up with a fever so I gave him some juice and meds and we went to sleep.  Five minutes later he was running to the bathroom and it all came up. He was freaking out when he saw blue stuff (Nyquil pills) come up, which I thought was kinda funny.  I had to remind him that he took blue meds.  I cleaned him (and the floor up) and took good care of him.  But, overall he is a good sick person it seems.

I, on the other hand, am a complete baby.  I'm whiny and cranky and I just don't "do sick" very well. :(

  • Mine turns into a baby too for the smallest cold, but I think its cute. When it was a major illness and he had to go through chemo treatments, he was completely different and never complained and didn't let it keep him down, so I feel he deserves to whine a little.

Oh my gosh! Are we married to the same man?! This exactly describes my husband!

Haha!  Wouldn't you much rather have a whiny husband (only when he's sick, of course!)???  I tell mine that all the time...after he's better and in good spirits again.

This is my husband too.  When he is sick he WILL go to work, and he will try to make everyone believe that he is fine.  But it is easy to tell he is not because he becomes really, really grumpy.   When he gets off work he goes straight to bed and won't get up until it's time to go to work again.  At least he doesn't whine about it.  I guess he leaves the whining to me.

  • Jason is a giant baby...with being sick or being in any kind of pain.  Literally, he'll get a papercut and you'd think his finger is going to fall off.  He had to get 3 stitches a couple years ago, and I STILL hear about how "bad" this cut was lol.
