Brandi

I know you had a cold during your first weeks. I have been coughing my head off and trying to take cough medicine every 4 hours. Is it normal to have a little bit of pain on my sides and stomach area every once in a while? I'm just thinking that it is those muscles that you use to cough. I know everything is fine, but everything makes me nervous right now and I know God is in control.

Re: Brandi

  • Yes, totally normal.  1) your muscles are sore from coughing.  You would have a normal amount of tenderness even if you weren't pregnant.  2)  your body is changing and your uterus is growing rapidly, you may be having some round ligament pain starting up.  Sadly, you'll start feeling it in lower back soon =(  If you start having some severe cramping, kind of off and on, then have it checked out to be on the safe side. 3) you could have a corpeus luteum cyst... they probably would have looked when you had your ultrasound, but it would have been a normal thing so they may not have mentioned it.  4) menstrual type cramps are totally normal...  you might even feel like your period is about to start kind of cramps.

Heather, I am crampy everyday.  Sometimes both sides.  Sometimes lower down, sometimes my back.  When you get pregnant, for some reason (at least for me anyway) you start to get a little more in tuned to your body, and you notice aches and cramps a little more that you might have just been able to ignore before you found out you were pregnant.  I would be lying if I told you I didn't worry.  I worry EVERY SINGLE DAY =(  If I have a twinge that just doesn't feel normal, or an achy abdomen, or a pulling feeling in my back, right off the bat I fear the worst.  I have a great doctor that knows my history, and they take the time to answer my questions if I call.  If I am really scared, they pull me in for an u/s which is reassuring.  Luckily, this has been the most normal pregnancy I have ever had out of 6.  You're right.  God is in control, and His will will be done.  But it doesn't make it any less scary.  Your nerves will just escalate throughout the pregnancy, and believe me, it won't stop once the baby is born...  you'll carry a different kind of fear.  You'll worry every day for the rest of your life.  I worry about Bug in the future, and it's a long time from now, like when he is out driving and dating.  Lol.  Welcome to Mommyhood

Call me... we'll talk =)  I have always been here for you and will always be =)

  • Thank you. You have made me feel much better. I need to stop worrying and analyzing every little thing. My cough seems to be a little better, but if it is not gone by Wednesday I am going to talk to my OB. Hopefully this is not something I will have the whole time.

Thank you again for putting my mind at ease.
