S/O Makeup/Concealer Question-

I've never gone to a makeup counter/store (we don't have a MAC or Sephora store in P'Cola, just the mall counters) to get makeup help. Let's say I wanted to go to MAC for something, do I just walk up and say, "I need help picking out ."? If I wanted general makeup help do I need to not wear makeup so they can try out colors and whatnot? I'm very much a drugstore makeup girl b/c I don't wear a lot of makeup but I wouldn't mind stepping it up some. (and now you can secretly judge me for not knowing, lol)

Re: S/O Makeup/Concealer Question-

  • Yes you can just walk up and they will help you pick what you are looking for. I have friends that have worked at Lancome, Clinic and Sephora. Their  job is to put make up on people all day. I think a lot of them work on commision so they might be pushy. You'll want to go into the situation knowing how much money you want to spend because a lot of that stuff can be expensive.

  • We DO have a Mac.  It's just inside Dillards to the left, if you're entering from the mall.

Yes, you can just walk up or you can make an appointment.  If you're going with the intention of having them do a makeover, I'd say don't wear any makeup.  But, DO slap some moisturizer on before going.  You can go to any makeup counter in the mall and they'll do it for you.  I have a friend who works at Clinique and that's her job.  From past experience...Mac doesn't charge for the service.  BUT, during the week, they require a purchase with no max.  On weekends, they require a purchase of $50.  Just FYI.

This is pretty spot on. You should always just ask how it works though. Some places will even do your whole face but you have to buy a certain amount of items. I know we did this for prom in high school. We all went to MAC, they did our makeup, and then we bought three products.

  • Sorry, I misread.  I answered assuming you wanted your whole face done.  Sorry!  So, to further answer....yes, you can go there and just ask questions and they'll have all kinds of recs and ideas for your skin tone.  They do encourage you to try things out as well.
  • Thank you, ladies. Danielle, do you see how often I go to the mall? I had no idea we had an actual MAC store.

  • Well it's not a store necessarily.  It's a makeup counter right inside Dillards.  If you don't pay attention to the makeup or perfume areas inside department stores, it's pretty easy to miss!
  • I'm a drugstore makeup girl too.  I have some Artistry stuff from my mom (yay Amway - lol) that I LOVE.  Otherwise it's Covergirl for me.
