Superbowl Stuff...

Happy Monday!

So...what was your take on:

Pre-Game Songs?

Commercials?

Half Time Show?

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game?

For a change of pace, lets give Grades (A+-F) and then add your own comments where you like.

Re: Superbowl Stuff...

  • Pre-Game Songs?  Didn't watch any of this

Commercials?  B-  Some were good but nothing really stood out to me

Half Time Show? D  The audio was horrendous!  It would have been an A in my book if it has been executed as planned.  But if you can't hear the people singing, then it is hard to enjoy it

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  A  I was cheering for the Packers, but only because everyone else I knew was cheering for the Steelers.  So I felt like they were left out.  But it was a great game and I was happy the Packers won!

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game?  B-  It was on the healthier side since I was trying to not stray too far from my diet.  We had burgers and fries with peaches for dessert.  I didn't even have a beer!  Not very Super Bowl-esque, but it worked!

ETA:  Now I realize what Derky meant by Pre-Game Songs.  See comment below about the national anthem.  Otherwise I though Lea Michele did a good job!

  • Oh I forgot...

National Anthem F-  How the hell do you mess up the words to the national anthem???  Quite disappointed in Christina!

  • Pre-Game Songs? NA - I didn't watch them.Commercials? C - I didn't see anything that really stood out. I watch some of the top commercials again this morning and still wasn't that impressed.Half Time Show? B - I though the light show was pretty cool, but the singing (although it was more a sound tech issue) was just okay.Game?   (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  A - i thought it was a great game. DH was rooting for the Steelers so I decided to root for the Packers.  I'm not a fan of either, but I'm glad the Packers won. I think they last won in 1997 or something like that.Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game?  B - we just had normal food... a roast and quinoa... at home.
  • Pre-Game Songs?  We were with a big group of people, so I really couldn't hear any of them.... :(  Can't believe Christina Aguilera messed up the National Anthem, though.  (I couldn't hear it enough to know she repeated a line).  N/A

Commercials?  C+  Just above average.  Didn't think there were as many LOL moments as in the past.  I liked the way Bud incorporated the Clydesdales in an unconventional way (with Tiny Dancer), I did LOL to the Flower one with Faith Hill (Your rack is awesome) and did enjoy the VW Darth Vader one...but all of the others were just kind of "meh."  The first Doritos made me cringe and Pepsi tried way too hard.  I thought the two Eminem commercials were at least clever.

Half Time Show?  Again, couldn't really hear it, but what I could visually watch, I enjoyed it.  I LOVE Usher, so that was a highlight for me, and thought the glowing people were Tron-ish but cool looking at least.  B  because it was the most fun and upbeat show they've had in awhile.

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  I was loosely rooting for the Packers--I just like their story--loosely because I really don't care about football all that much.  Was glad the Steelers made the game interesting in the second 1/2 at least because the first half was a bit of a snooze-fest.  I do always root for any Hoosiers that make the Superbowl, and Antwaan Randle El had a pretty good game for the Steelers.  B+

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game?  Would you guys be surprised to hear that yesterday was the first time I've ever eaten chili?  And even then, it wasn't REAL chilli--I made a Chicken Chili so that I'd know that it wasn't too hot and had stuff in it that wouldn't make me ill (and stuff that I liked.)  The rest of the food was decent...I'd probably give the overall spread a solid B.

  • I must confess, I have a problem.  If one were to describe my night, one would say I watched the Superbowl. But in actuality,  I just kind of.....existed in front of the TV. I was wrapping up our taxes during the pre-game songs so I didn't really notice them. I stopped paying attention to the commercials after the first couple breaks. I didn't watch the 4'th quarter.

I did watch the halftime show. D+. They get the plus for the cool light suits, everything else was just awful. I made buffalo chicken soup which was fantastic and I'm very excited to re-visit tonight. = A+

  • Pre-Game Songs? Honestly, I was not paying attention yet

Commercials? I thought they were just ave. Some of them were good, others were dumb. C

Half Time Show? It was alright, but nothing spectacular. At least they tried to go a bit younger with the act this year. B

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  Overall it was a good game, but I was cheering for the Steelers. Since the Steelers did not win, I will say B

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game? It was low key, just DH and I but we had wings and crack dip, so the food was yummy. A

  • So...what was your take on:

    Pre-Game Songs? didn't watch

Commercials? They were kind of disappointing! I ended up not watching a lot of them b/c once I watched a few commercial breaks and saw that they weren't that funny, I started getting up and doing other stuff during the commercials (laundry, dishes, etc.). C

Half Time Show? B. I didn't love the Black Eyed Peas (in fact some of their voices really did not sound good live), but I did love Slash and especially Usher.

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  DH is a huge Packer fan, and since I didn't really have an NFL team of my "own" I've adopted them too. So we were thrilled that they won, and it was an exciting game! A

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game? My DH was out of town, but I had a girlfriend over and we had a bunch of snacky stuff. A.

  • Pre-Game Songs? didn't watch

Commercials? B.  I honestly didn't think there were enough.  I don't know if it's the economy or what, but I feel like there were more commercials in years past.

Half Time Show? C. I'm not a big fan of BEP, but I thought they sounded awful...the show itself was pretty cool though.

Game?  (Did the team you were rooting for win?)  B Good game, but my team (Steelers) lost big time.  Big Ben really blew it.

Your own festivity and/or food spread wherever you watched the game? C. We had to rush home just to see the game and picked up a pizza (had a church function)...I'm sure it'll be better next year
