I love my husband! (PIP)

DH and I aren't typically big Valentine's day people. I don't think we've ever REALLY celebrated Valentine's Day. We never do gifts, and rarely do cards. Our plans for the weekend we to do a nice dinner and wine on Sunday to celebrate our engagement anniversary. No other plans.

I just had someone come to my door. It was a delivery guy....with flowers!! I have NO clue when DH bought them....the place that delivered them is the local flower store in our tiny town. They don't have a website. I don't know when he must have gone in - I'm always at home! And I know what time he gets home from work, and he hasn't been late at all anytime in the last several weeks.

But now I kind of feel bad, because I have nothing for him - you know, because we've never really done gifts. Should I go get him something?

  • So sweet!  That's such a great surprise :)  Love it when DHs do something so sweet out of the blue.

This is actually the same boat that I am in.  DH came home from class 2 days ago with flowers for me!!  So the night at home with candles and everything that I was planning on... I don't know if I should do more now?  I haven't come up with anything yet, anyways.

    Sorry I wasn't more help..

  • Very pretty!  I actually think that you shouldn't go out and get him something because he bought you flowers.  If you haven't ever swapped gifts in the past, I doubt he will even be expecting something.  Don't take the flowers as a hint for you to get him a gift.  I think it was just a nice gesture for him to show you he loves you!

  • That's kind of what I was thinking too Lisa. I mean, we've never done gifts before. And since they were delivered today, instead of Monday, makes me think they were more meant to be random I love you flowers, not for Valentine's Day.

  • Your DH could have easily called in the order to the little local flower shop.  The flowers are very pretty and a nice surprise.  I wouldn't think him getting you flowers requires you to get a gift in return.  But maybe you can give DH a back rub as a thank you.

  • that is so sweet!  I agree with the pp that said you shouldn't feel obligated to get him something just because, he probably just wanted to do something extra special for you.
  • Oh, how sweet!  They are so pretty!  Don't feel obligated to get him something.  I agree, he wanted to do something thoughtful for you.

However, if you want to do something sweet for him, make him a special dessert or dinner or something along those lines.
