Ugh!!! Time Warner pisses me off almost daily. Aside from being expensive, our stupid DVR messes up ALL.THE.TIME. DH and I have a show that we set to record every day. We just like to come home and unwind while catching up on reruns. Yesterday, (not the first time) the show recorded with no sound. Everything else had sound except that one show. So, I try to get them to fix it. They try to send updates but that doesn't work. Ugh, okay fine but I'm still mad that I can't watch the show. FF to today, I check to see if it works, the first episode only recorded for 45 mins (it's an hour) and the second episode just recorded for 1 second.
We already requested a new box in the past and they wouldn't give us one. Now, they're coming out to "service" it tomorrow afternoon. Their first offer was to come between 8 am and 9 pm. Seriously!!! People have to work.
Okay, vent over.
Re: Time Warner Vent
We used to have the same problem where it would only record a couple minutes of a show and then stop. They changed out our box, and still the same thing. It mostly only happened with certain channels, too. We switched to DirecTv when we moved and are sooo much happier. We've had it now for about a year and a half. Unfortunately, we still have to use TW for internet, but it's against protest. They are awful.
PS: if you get interested in switching, let me know! DirecTv does a refer-a-friend discount, and both the new and referring people get the discount.

I was so happy to kick twc to the curb when we moved.
We now have u-verse and the world is right again.

You guys are making me nervous! We got TWC when we moved here a few months ago, but thankfully haven't had any issues (yet!).
For those of you that have satellite - do you have problems with it cutting out during storms? We had Dish Network when I was a kid, and it would go out often.

FTR- there have been quite a few posts about cable providers and TWC usually fares pretty well.
We've had them for 7+ years with very little problem.
