Best and Worst Series Finale?
This was posted on Entertainment. Pardon me for being an Xer. I'm bored and thought it would make for conversation.
What was the best series finale you've seen? Worst?
Re: Best and Worst Series Finale?
Best: The Sopranos. I liked that they didn't really tell you what happened. If they had ended it (with the family being killed), I would have been pissed, but if they didn't it wouldn't have been an ending. I think the black screen was the way to go.
Worst: The Shield. I went into a mild depression after this one.
Ok, I'm going to do some IQ testing now. I expect this board to be more lively when I return. ;-)
Ooh series... the first thing that pops into my head is the Roseanne finale... how everything was exactly opposite from what we thought... Matt was really upset about that... I thought it was a fun twist.
Friends is most likely my favorite TV show ever, but that last episode wasn't the best for me. Maybe because I didn't want it to end, or the last 5 minutes was so somber (they were all pretty much crying in real life). I guess I wasn't done with them just yet.
Grey's Anatomy's last season finale was AH-mazing, but that's not the end.
I agree about Friends. I'm glad that Monica and Chandler had their babies and Ross and Rachel ended up together, but I just wasn't ready for it to end.
The season 2 (I believe) finale of Grey's, with Meredith holding the bomb, was the best ever! Last season was great, but nothing will beat the bomb for me. Oh, and Denny dying. Was that a finale?
I confess I've never seen the finale of Friends.
I loved the SATC series Finale and the Cosby Show.
I don't really have a worst series finale.

I think the bomb episode was just in the middle of the season for sweeps, but it was a really great episode. Denny was the finale for season 2. Matt and I actually watched the last half of each grey's finale one night (except for 4 because it just ended at an episode because of the writer's strike). Season three is great with the Christina/Burke thing and season 5 was amazing because of the Izzie/George thing. They are SO GOOD at finales.
I love every Grey's season finale.
I really didnt like the last Gilmore Girls episode... it just didnt have everything in it that i wanted it to.
Boy Meets World ended well but I have no real memory of the series finale.
Most of the shows I like are either still going or HAD NO FINALE.
Such as:
Veronica Mars, October Road, Radio Free Rosco, Heroes, etc...
Best: Eli Stone. Did you see that? Freaking awesome. I was so sad when this show got canceled.
Worst: SATC. Seriously. Big doesn't deserve Carrie.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I was always an Aiden girl, but I thought Carrie and Big together for the finale was right. I was PISSED during the movie when he left her at the alter. Ruined the whole movie! I'm still mad about that.
I agree with Friends....I like the way it ended, I just wasn't ready for it to end.
SATC, I have really mixed feelings about. I still love the series, but I hated that in the end, Carrie got the "urban fairy tale" about the guy who was a jerk really loves her and they live happily ever after. That being said, I would have freaked out if she ended the series with Petrovsky (jerk).
Worst: Will and Grace comes to mind. I LOVED that show, but the way they closed things out in the last season or few episodes (with Will and Grace not being friends) was kind of a bummer. I liked the twist where their kids met in college, but the whole "skip to the future" thing, I don't know, I wasn't feeling it.
Exactly what I was going to say. With GG, it was very bland, although I was very glad Rory didn't go with Logan. I hated Logan.
Now, with VM, I didn't think that WAS the finale, I was sure I'd gotten it wrong and the finale would be the next week. And then when VM wasn't on I was so mad!! I adored that show.
For the most part, I don't remember finales. I'm mostly just too depressed that the show is over to care what happened in the final episode.
I would have been unhappy with a Petrovsky ending too- but why couldn't she end up just being herself in the City, happy with her girlfriends and still looking for Mr. Right? Sorry, I think that would have been better.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I totally agree with you. The whole idea that she had to end up with someone was really annoying. It perpetuated so many women's feelings that they HAVE to have or end up with someone, and double-whammy that it was someone who had already caused her so much pain. It would have been awesome to see her just drop Petrovsky on his arse, fly back to the city, surprise the girls, and leave the series as the strong, independent woman we all knew and loved.
This part of the movie actually ruined J's original plan of proposing to me. He was being super nice that day and let me watch chick flicks. After seeing her get left at the alter, he knew he couldn't as me to marry him that same day. (his words, not mine) So, he ended up just doing it the next day.

Best: LOST. I don't care what anyone says. I'm staying true to my favoritest show evar.
Worst: The Shield pissed me off.
