BR- I need to vent...

Baby related- in case you want to back out now! Big Smile

I have a friend who has been obsessed with the idea of having a baby since I got pregnant- no big deal. It happens.

This is ALL she talks about, however. She constantly comes over to hold DS and talk nonstop about herself, her revelation that she may want a baby, how she has badgered her DH into giving into her, 1 verses 2 issue, the name issue, when to have them (in 2-3 years), on and on and on. Then she will repeatedly state that she needs babysit to "practice" with DS so that she can give "her DH a dose of reality" with him. She stated the other day, "He needs to change his diaper, under my strict supervision" which I thought was beyond rude.

Besides, I don't let people change DS's diaper. Unless it's my mom or something. Friends husbands- not so much.

I told her the other day that "practicing" having one for an hour is not like having one full time.

Plus DS is not a toy. You don't get to play with him alone for a night to see if you want one like him.

And no, I wouldn't leave DS with her (we have 2 trusted sitters and my mom).

I know she is excited by her realization that she wants a baby and she tells me every thought and feeling about it. I guess since  just had one she thinks I care or understand or something...

Confused

ETA- I think what annoys me most is that I am no longer anything but a mom sounding board to her. She never asks how I am, what I am up to, and ignores my attempts to talk about things not related to her.

Re: BR- I need to vent...

  • Um, yeah, that's weird that she basically told you she wants to borrow your baby for practice.  Plus, I fail to see how making her husband change a dirty diaper is supposed to make him get excited about having a baby.

P.S. You must change your avatar back to Punky Brewster.  This rotating avatar thing is annoying.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Is it the same upload? I will do that.

Uh, yeah. I told her DH had never changed a dipe before and I did not touch a dirty diaper the first week of DS's life- he did ALL the changing! She did not care, she just ignored me and went back to talking about herself.

  • How is that? it looks like they shortened the pixel reqs, but it gets the message across, no? I especially like the Punky Power! at the bottom LOL

Um yeah, super weird.  I don't blame you feeling all Hmm Punky.

  • I think it's normal for people to want to or be inclined to talk baby non-stop. But seriously, this girl needs to chill... It seems like you see her and talk to her often enough for her to have gotten a clue by now.

Much better, though it sucks that it doesn't fit the same.  Sadly, I can't read the "Punky Power" part at all.  It's just a big purple smear.

  • How annoying.  Can you tell her you are tired of talking about babies?

I say this, but last night I was out with some friends and ALL they did was talk about babies.  I was bored out of my mind.  I love babies of course,  and I am so happy to be pregnant.  I just don't like obsessing over it all night.  Ehhhh.  I finally just said I had to leave because I was exhausted.  This was mostly true.  Ha ha ha.

And they don't even know you're pg yet, right?

I thought it was worse when I was pregnant, actually. People acted like the only possible thing going on in your life is the pregnancy. At least once the baby is here they're always doing something new so the conversation changes. But during pregnancy it's "Yup, still pregnant." "I feel ok, just tired." "Of course I'm getting bigger, that's how it works. " Over and over and over!
