I noticed on the Valentines day Poll that several of us make dinner for Valentines day - if you do, or have in the past please share your menu - what do you make, or what would you make?
Re: Valentines Day Dinner
This year so far I think I am going to attempt either Duck with plum sauce or Beef Wellington, Heart Beets (heart shaped beets), Freshly baked honey wheat bread, and some variation of potato or rice. I think I will also take my first try at a cheesecake to break in the pans we recieved.
In the past I've made some of these: warm bacon dressing on a bleu cheese spinach salad, Cornish Hens, bacon wrapped filets, Brussels sprout gratin, red velvet cake. DH doesn't like braving the crowds so we'll probably stay home that evening.
DH would love that, but I'm afraid my cooking skills aren't up to it...
DH loves kebabs and pastries, so for special occasions I make a full Indian meal with kebabs, lentils, and a vegetable (he likes green beans with potatoes), and then I get some kind of small cake or petit four for dessert.

Pork roast. Rub it with rosemary, thyme, basil, sage, salt and pepper. Sear the outer meat, then place in a slow cooker or dutch oven. Pour in apple cider, sliced carrots and onions, then roast for two and a half hours until cooked.

I think I am going to steal this for some occasion. Sounds delicious
I will probably do some shopping at Fresh Market (like Whole Foods) since they have the best stuff. A splurge but still cheaper than eating out. I would love to get us a couple juicy steaks (filets or ribeyes), make some roasted asparagus and convince DH to make some mashed potatoes since his are much better than mine. He's not big on sweets except dark chocolate, which is fine with me. And of course we'll have a nice red wine with all that.
I think I want to try my hand at homemade pasta this year. It scares me so we will see
Last year we made homemade pizza
