Tell me how good it is.
Backstory: I have a Palm Pixi Plus and I loved it for the first few months and now I HATE it. I was a Palm devotee ever since they came out and now, they suck (esp with HP acquiring them). They lack in apps big time and it always freezes up on me. Oh did I mention I have had to replace it 3x already b/c it will automatically turn off for no reason? Awesome.
I have Verizon but I can not upgrade my phone until March 2012 (boo).
I want to hear the good (Stef this one is for you!), bad and ugly of it.

Re: ok iphone ladies....
I love my iPhone and can't live without it
I don't think any other phone on the market comes close in terms of innovation. I love having access to my mail, internet, a camera, maps, etc. all on my phone and in an easy-to-use interface. There are tons of great apps too.
The downsides for me are that AT&T's network isn't always reliable (but you're dealing with Verizon so may or may not be better.) The data plans are expensive, and the phones themselves are expensive to buy or replace if it's damaged, lost or stolen. Also I absolutely hate and always have trouble with the system of using iTunes to back up or update the phone. Anytime I hear the word "sync," I get anxious...
I love love love mine. Except now it's old (mine is the 3G model), it is running slowly. I'm not replacing it since I'm joining DH on Verizon. My contract is up next month, but I'm going to wait until this summer to see if a new model is released.
It's super easy to use, and I pretty much always have it in my hand!
However, I have zero other smartphone experience, so I have no idea how it compares to your other options.
ETA: I actually had mine replaced 11 months in, and Apple was great. (My wireless stopped working.) I really like the iTunes backup/sync feature, and it totally saved me when I got the replacement phone. Just plugged it in, said yes, this is my new phone, and voila, all my apps/information.
I would love mine a WHOLE lot more if it didn't drop every other call that I make.
Some people blame this on the iPhone, some blame it on AT&T. I don't care, I just know that I didn't lose half my calls when I had Sprint!
But aside from the spotty service, the phone itself is great. I don't love the keyboard (no tactile feedback means a lot of typing errors, even for someone like me who gets used to small gadgets quickly), and the Google Map that comes with it is seriously flawed- I think I notice all the flaws because I rely HEAVILY on the GPS to get me around, and I get really mad when it screws up.
The camera/video/texting technology of the iPhone is great, in my opinion. I love the calendar, although it's missing a to-do list app (I downloaded a good one, but I was surprised that the phone doesn't have one built in). The Facebook mobile app is very good, but I don't have another phone to compare that to.
