MH brag

I am SO VERY PROUD of MH today!

Our niece (the one who is being raised by my MIL since my SIL died 2 years ago) called us last night, asking if we would take her snowshoeing at Pineland tomorrow because it sounded like so much fun after we talked about our snowshoeing trip to VT a little bit ago. We said yes and then we can all go to a dance show at the Franco-American Center afterwards, won't that be fun?

Fast forward to this morning: MIL calls to say that she doesn't want to drive down to L-A from Jay tomorrow morning and then have to do the same on Sunday morning-- can we take our niece next week during the school break instead? MH caves and says okay. 30 minutes later, however, it's still bothering him (and he can tell from my body language that it's bothering me) so we talk about it-- I have an exam and a written assignment due the Monday after that "vacation" week and MH has to work at his field-experience location for 3 of the days; how come MIL doesn't mind driving down to L-A and back on Wednesdays for Bingo (leaving our niece alone from the moment she steps off the bus from school until after bedtime-- did I mention she's a very immature/young 14?) but minds driving down for this; how come MIL won't support our niece's desire to do something active instead of sit around watching TV...

So MH calls MIL back and offers to pick up our niece from Jay tomorrow morning, if she will pick up our niece from our house on Sunday morning because we have to be in Portland for our nephew's birthday party. MIL hems and haws, says no, she doesn't want to drive in the morning, blah blah blah. MH-- and this is where I almost shouted in triumph and performed a touchdown dance-- says "but you have no problem driving down for Bingo during the week. Don't we want to encourage A to be more active? And the dance show-- I think it's sad that she didn't even know what a dance show is. She asked us if we had to participate!"

I swear, I wanted to love him up right then and there in the toy aisle of Kmart!

And, the best part is: MIL finally agreed with us! She called us back about 2 hours later and said that she would drop off A at our house tomorrow morning and pick her up on Sunday morning! I cannot BELIEVE that she changed her mind, but I am LOVING that MH is getting rewarded for putting the mirror up in front of his mother to show her the folly of her attitude!

*sigh* I don't think my day can get any better than this!
