Thor

How many weeks along were you in your PG when you delivered Audrey? I know its been discussed before but I wasn't really on the board when she was born so I can't remember all the details.  The main reason I ask is because I'm getting to a point in my PG where there's a chance my baby could survive if born (please God don't let it happen though!) and I'm just looking for a point of reference.

Also, how are things with your Grandpa? I've been thinking about you guys.

Re: Thor

  • 25 weeks is considered a chance to make it. audrey was born at 31w6d but did require about a week on a ventilator and weeks of feeding tubes. Hopefully you can just go full term and not have to worry about it.
  • :butting in: In my NICU we have babies deemed viable at 23 weeks, I'm not saying they grow up to lead normal lives but we are able to sustain them. Any baby below 32 wks is what we consider a "Golden Hr" delivery. That means we have up to an hour after life to do certain things to give that baby the best shot of survival and best outcome. It use to only go up to 30 weeks but within the last 2 years they upped it to 32 weeks. I'd say from personal experience 23wk- 29 wks are the scariest. 30-33wks may need some assistance at first but do great in the long run. At 35 wks they are still preemies but not necessarily NICU babies.
