Anyone care to inspire me? I was thinking insects and butterflies since L's birthday is in March, then I thought maybe doing a St.Pattys day theme because she was born on St.patricks day. But really I have no idea.
I am feeling kind of like a bad parent because we have done any planning. :-/ I know it doesn't have to be anything big but I would like to have some sort of celebration with close friends and family.

My blog: Dodging Acorns
J's 1st bday was all about cupcakes, but that's typical of me
N will be ladybugs b/c she is our bug. I was going through fertility treatments when (in typical RI fashion) we got swarmed with lady bugs and I got my BFP. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. something good or bad has happened in regards to N, we've seen a ladybug. I don't care that her bday is November, it's ladybug cupcakes
there's a nordicware bug cupcake pan or you can do a cupcake caterpillar to tie in a bug theme. solid color tableware helps keep things simple too.
Mid-afternoon party and you won't have to feed people - some snacks & cake is all that's really expected and you LO can have her nap and be ready to play.
what about cupcakes with different shades of green frosting? not necessarily a st. patty's theme but definitely could tie into that and spring. you could do pastel sprinkles or candy (easter m&ms will probably be out by then). choosing a color makes it easy coordinate a few solid colored napkins, balloons, or plates without it being a theme.
Ok I have a few ideas rolling around in my head for you.
I think the butterfly/insect idea is very cute for an early spring birthday!
How about doing something based on The Very Hungry Catterpillar? You could do all solid, primary colored paper goods and table cloth. Then you could do some of the different foods that he ate through in the book and have a caterpillar cupcake cake!

You could have butterfly nets for party favors! And there are a TON of free resources for pictures and activities online.
Now I am all excited about The Very Hungry Caterpillar (it's the teacher in me), but I've already decided to have a Wizard of Oz party for Liza!
You could also do something more "pink" like this-

This butterfly idea is cute too

Sarah- I LOVE some of the links you sent me and wonder why in my hours of searching I never came across some of it.

SURE IT IS! She'll only be one. Those first birthdays are really more for the parents than the kids.
