SHRM Learning System
Hello!
I am preparing for the PHR exam in June. Those of you who have purchased the SHRM Learning system did you feel it was worth it? I am really not wanting to purchase it but also don't want to fail the test 
Do you think i would be able to purchase used or do libraries have these by any chance?

You'll have to check your local library, just go straight to the librarian and have them search all the library branches for you.
You can also check your local craigslist, freecycle, and of course, ebay and amazon.
sadly the library will not have it. You can purchase books through SHRM. Check the HR talk area of SHRM perhaps you will find someone who is selling books..make sure it's recent and fits the time period of your exam!
I also used Anne Bogardus book she pub'd a new edition when I took the exam..
What was helpful for me was answering a lot of practice questions so I really understood the concepts. Good luck
there is a forum on indeed.com that is basiclly a chat baord of people that have taken or are getting ready to take the PHR/SPHR.....lots of reselling of the SHRM Learning System for reduced rates.
I used the Learning System....Anne B. book...and Distincitve HR Audio CDs. I think the ability to practice the SHRM Learning System test was VERY important in me passing. It taught me how the questions were structured and what HRCI considers to be the right answer! This is key in passing. If you do buy resell I would try to find someone that still has on-line access the the SHRM Learning System.
I took the PHR about two years ago right around graduation. I was fortunate enough to borrow my school's copy to help me study. I think it helped a lot.
Do you know anyone else thinking of taking the test? Could you split the cost and share it?
Thanks for all the advice!!! I checked out the indeed forum and a super nice guy contacted me and said he would let me use his books for free & it doesn't seem like a scam at all, haha! All I have to pay is shipping!! Such a generous person, I can wait to get started:)
