What is your cleaning schedule/routine?

I was hoping you ladies would share your cleaning routine/schedule with me.  I always like to try to tweak my routine (drop unnecessary things, add more important tasks).

Re: What is your cleaning schedule/routine?

  • This isn't mine but she posted it, I saw and loved it, emailed her, and now I have a cleaning schedule of my own!

  • Great question!  I want to know everyone's answers too!

I usually clean on weekends, but then it gets overwhelming with laundry & activities too, so I give up lol.  I need a schedule to keep me on track :)

Another question: how do you clean your coffee pot?  and how often?  TIA

  • I have a big spreadsheet, so it's hard to post, but I will say about the coffee pot, I clean with white vinegar once a month and I clean the actual pot every night with regular soap and water and wipe down the burner and the outside whenever I clean the rest of the kitchen/appliances (which is really like every other day).

During the week, this is what I do:

    sweep/swiffer - 3 times a week

scoop litter - every other day, clean/change once a week

wipe down all tables, sinks and counters - every other day

give the bathroom a good wipe down - once a week

    laundry - twice a week

refill soap dispenser - once a week

clean the cat bowls - once a week

    menu plan/grocery shop - once a week

I also try to tidy up during the week, keep up with the dishes, sort the mail, make the bed/open the bedroom curtains, and brush the cats.

All that (except grocery shopping) can be assigned to week nights. That frees up the weekends for big projects, like washing all the curtains and slipcovers, or once-a-month projects like cleaning out and organizing the pantry.

  • Monday: Dust and furniture polish, Vac all rooms, swiffer tile and wood floors after vaccuming.

Tuesday: Clean girls bath (guest bath)

Wednesday: change master bed sheets (have to make it task or I forget), clean master bath. Do a load of the girls laundry.

Thursday: vaccum and swiffer all tile and hardwood. Mop tile.

    Friday: clean kitchen

Saturday: If we are home, I will pick a project to work on, like: Clean out the fridge and wipe down all shelves and things. Or go through all the girls toys and clothes and pick out things to go to goodwill or for yardsale. Something I will only tackle once a month.

Sunday: Do another girls laundry load and clean the pool.

I wipe down the table and kitchen counters everyday. I also scrub my sink everyday, but that is because I can't stand a dirty sink. I do my laundry as needed and throw a load in at night after 8pm.

  • I really like Real Simple's website...they have a lot of great checklists, tables, forms, etc for cleaning and organizing.  Its perfect for an OCD girl like myself :)
