vacation help
I am trying to figure out something to do over Spring Break. It would be me and H, and at least one (possibly 3) other couples. I would like something with good restaraunts, some bars, a beach. I don't want to drive more than like 5 hours...the closer the better. We have been to Miami a few times, so I would like to find something else. What about other Keys? We have only been to KW, and I don't want to drive that far.

I spent almost every summer in the keys growing up. No more then 5 hours would put you at Key Largo. I would recommend going a little further to the middle keys. Marathon is beautiful. We always camped at Bahia Honda and they have a snorkle tour that goes from there to Looe Key Reef... breathtaking.
What about the other coast? Daytona, Cocoa?

that sounds perfect for us, BUT it is more than $500 a night....wow! Plus it says there is a 5 night minimum.
WOW. That minimum must be for spring break? We went there for a weekend....also, depending on how many couples go, you can share suites. The one bedroom could sleep 4, the 2 bedroom could sleep 6....
Just a thought. In 2006, 4 couples (me&asshat, bro&sil, cousin/wife aunt&uncle) went down to Key Largo for 8 days. We rented a house and paid under $500 per couple for the whole trip which includes gas, boat launches, food.. all of it.
We all took turns cooking dinner, first night I paid for and cooked dinner for everyone and cleaned up the kitchen afterward and the next night was someone elses turn. We had a blast and it was opening week of lobster season so prices are pretty high that time of year down there.
Just to put another suggestion out there...
I recently spent a week in Sarasota and stayed at the Hyatt downtown. It was a really cute hotel and inexpensive. There are tons of great restaurants to eat at around downtown and in St. Armands Circle. There are also some nice bars, lounges, and karaoke places. The beaches in Sarasota and on Siesta Key are gorgeous. It's only like an hour drive which is nice too.
I also go a lot to New Smyrna Beach which is a fun little beach town. There are a lot of condos and townhouses that you can rent. There is not a ton of nightlife (it's pretty similar to Marco Island which I feel is pretty dead at night) but it has fun beach restaurants and is very relaxing.
