skype

Hey girls. I haven't been around in a while since I started working :) I just got a webcam for my birthday (I know- behind the times) but anyway, what can you tell me about skype?

.*. We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by finding an imperfect person perfectly .*.

Re: skype

  • I like it ok.  It's free so that's cool.  We use it mainly for keeping in touch with my parents, who live about a thousand miles away and can't come down as frequently as they like.  It's great to be able to see them and my mawmaw who lives with them, and for them to be able to see us and Gabrielle.  Gabby even knows when I say, "Where's Mawmaw?" or "Where's Pawpaw?" she points to the computer.  Ha.  It's the best way she's had to really get to know them as well.  It's nice that she can look at pictures of them in an album as well and recognize them.

The other night I downloaded the Skype app for my Iphone and that was pretty cool!  I liked it better than using the laptop - because I could move around, show my parents parts of the house or follow Gabby around while she played.  The only sucky part is that I have an Iphone 3gs, so the whole camera and screen not being on the same sides sucks but I'm sure it's pretty awesome with the Iphone 4 or the Ipad.

I've had a few connectivity issues,  and sometimes my video sucks on my laptop (my parents actually said the video was a million times clearer when I was using my phone, hmmm) but that's not Skype's fault.  It works without fail otherwise.
  • Skype is great for the same reasons Steph mentioned.. I use it with my mom pretty frequently. Instead of chatting on teh phone, we skype so we can see each other. Esp when my neice & nephew are at her house b/c I don't get to see them often enough. My mom also uses skype to make international calls. The rate is really cheap and the call quality and pretty impressive.
