How was everyone's pre-Valentine's weekend?

Re: Weekend recap?
Our fondue date on Friday was delicious and awesome!
On Saturday morning, we got the call that H's grandmother passed away. She wasn't particularly close to any of her grandchildren, but FIL is pretty upset (it was his mom). Luckily, FIL and MIL still came to the family wedding that night (it was MIL's side) and we all had a ton of fun! They had a photobooth guestbook just like we did - except theirs was MUCH more organized.
Sunday I was only a little hungover. My mom and my parents' dog came over and hung out for a bit, then I dragged my headache-y ass to the gym and ran the fastest mile I've done since high school! Woo! (It was painful). Then we went to Kohl's to get H a new shirt for under his suit for his grandma's services (he had never gotten a properly fitted dress shirt - this was a huge deal) and PSA - dress shirts AND ties for men are BOGO at Kohl's. I love that place. Then we ordered Thai food and watched the Grammys. The end.

goodmorning!
we celebrated vday over the weekend
friday we layed low. DH is all wigged out over something going on at the office, so we ordered pizza and cheesesticks and watched criminal minds (which is what we always seem to be doing...we can't not watch it when they run a marathon..it's too addicting).
saturday DH had to work 4-10pm, so i went out and did some shopping. william sonoma, target, the mall, etc. i ended up with a huge migraine that wouldn't go away, so i was in bed at 7pm.
sunday was our valentines day. i slept way in (1pm) while DH played WoW. we went ice skating and had a late dinner at a pricey restaurant we've been meaning to try. it was amazing!!
it's warm here today (47*!) and sunny, so i'm in a good mood so far!
Isn't it amazing what above freezing temperatures can do for your mood?? It's 40 degrees here, the snow is melting, and I'm so ready for spring! Too bad it's only February!

so true!!! it takes a lot to make me happy on a monday, but the better weather sure does do it! enjoy your warm(er) weather!!
Friday - Did our Valentin'e Day, ate out and saw a movie.
Saturday - I stayed in bed until 2pm because I'm a princess and I deserve it. Then we went out to buy an outfit for my interview. I tried on every pair of black pants Kohl's had and couldn't find one that didn't look ridiculous, though I did get a top and a black cardigan for over it. Went to JCP and tried on 10 more pairs until I found would that would do and gave up. Did you know they make skinny legged dress pants now? H wanted me to get them but they looked so DUMB... loose around the thighs and tight on the calves.
Sunday - H went to his Best Buy job and I baked Valentine's cupcakes for him to take to the Drs office today. I just cleaned up a bit and puttered around the kitchen for most of the day. Also a two hour nap may or may not have occurred - I honestly don't know how long I was out, but SpongeBob knocks me out every time.

I have to say that I've been pleasantly surprised by Valentine's Day this year. Usually I just hide from it, but this year (thanks to a bunch of helpful advice), I actually vocalized that I wanted to do something & we did. My hubby works full time, part time & is a full time student. He has something going on every single day of the week, so usually I just fly solo on the weekends. Friday, I got a call from him as I was leaving the gym & he wanted to go to Sweet Tomatoes (mostly veggie salad/soup buffet) because this month's their potato extravaganza. Then Saturday, I met one of my friends for breakfast (strawberry crepes, yum!) and good conversation. On my way home from breakfast, I got a call from my niece who wanted to make cookies, so we spent all afternoon making and decorating conversation heart style sugar cookies (the messages that my two nieces came up with were hilarious-they're 17 & 22 btw, not little kids). I came home prepared to watch a movie on the couch with DH and a plate of cookies. He came home & gave me a new chain for a necklace that I got on our honeymoon (which was really unexpected...when I talked to him about Valentine's Day, I had mentioned dinner & a movie or something along those lines) & we went out to dinner with my parents and my uncle to this Vietnamese restaurant in the burbs. Sunday when DH got home, he wanted to go to Claim Jumper & we had an amazing dinner...we even tried to tackle a slice of the 6 layer chocolate cake (failed). Busy weekend!
Tonight, I'm taking my niece (22) to dinner & a movie because she's a military bride and her hubby is at ranger school 1000 miles away.
Happy Valentines Day to you all, btw! I hope that the love carries throughout the rest of the year!!
Noron -- I'm sorry about the family death. T&P to y'all. I completely agree about the weather! I was THRILLED when I saw the snow melting this morning. I hope it can stay somewhat warm this whole week!
My weekend was fantastic. The welcome home ceremony was so beautiful and emotional! I'm so happy for the families that were reunited on Friday. The rest of the weekend was low key and restful....always a good thing
