Have any of you tried a Zumba class? I have been considering trying one and wanted some feedback. People say that they love it and I think it'd be a fun way to shed a few pounds. My mom and best friend said they'd join me if I went...any classes around the WBL area?
Re: Zumba Classes
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
i don't know anything about zumba but when i was in a band and dancing for 3-4 hours at a time twice a week, i was in the best shape of my life. you'd think that just dancing wouldn't be that great of a workout but it sure is!
i'd like to try zumba out sometime. it looks fun!
I.LOVE.ZUMBA!
I go to classes at the YMCA. All the Y's offer them,so if you are a member, there you go!
You totally forget that you are working out and its just so dang FUN! And I have two left feet, and still totally love it.
I've tried it, and honestly it wasn't for me...but I really want to "get" something from my work out and so I am better in classes that are hard cardio or strength. I wore my heart rate monitor to the zumba clas and I never cracked 100 bpm, and in my mind that's a waste of a good hour for me. I decided to stick with my other classes.
Really? Last time I went to Zumba, and wore my HRM, I burned over 1000 calories! My heart rate was high and I was sweaty and definitely got a workout. maybe the instructor just didn't do have high tempo enough music...? Like any class, it can be totally dependent on the instructor. Some are definately better than others. (not every class is for every person too)
I don't know, she was a real high energy instructor and I've heard good things about her but in an hour i only burned about 120 calories...
Mind you my resting heart rate is between 49-54 bpm so it takes A LOT to get my heart rate up there. It takes me about 30 minutes of running at 6.5mph or more to get my heartrate over 150, and in my cardio kickboxing class I usually only burn about 550 calories, so its all relative I guess.
