DH sent the owner of the company an email this morning to take the severance package. Today is his last day of work and he will met with the owner tomorrow to give him the keys to the company car and to get his severance check.
Yesterday I was freaking out and today I am getting a little more use to the idea. This whole thing is hard for me since I am such a planner. We talked last night and looked at finances and we should be fine for the next 3-4 months. After that, it will be freak out time! I am confident in DH's ability to get a new position soon, so I hope the $$ we get will just be a nice cushion to add to our savings account.
I am really trying to look at this like it is a blessing in disguise since I know DH was unhappy with what he was doing. Now I just have to keep it together in front of him but I may be coming here to post my total freakouts/break downs about this whole situation with you ladies.
Re: Well, he quit...
Deep breath...sounds like you guys are making rational decisions and you can always come here to vent/freak out.
As a fellow planner, I understand how stressed you might be feeling about the situation. I'm sure your DH knows too and will be doing what he can to find something (he hopefully likes tons better) very soon.
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

3-4 months is a good safety net/cushion. I'm sure during that time he'll be able to find something if he's persistent and dedicated.
I understand the planner type personality, I'm the same way. Just stay positive and definitely come here when you need to vent or have a freak out moment. But then go back to calm for your little baby
