I missed this one a couple of days ago. So what is your favorite dish from your hometown? Where can we get it if we visit?
Calzones at DiCiccio's in Fresno (they are also in San Jose). There are several locations of this restaurant and they have slightly different menus but they are all run by the same family. My family has been going there for years because my grandparents lived in San Jose for 30 years and discovered them then. When my parents moved to Fresno it was a tradition to go there. Their sauce is so good as is their bread. So the calzone is my favorite, they use lots of sauce (but you can ask for less). Yum, yum. They also give you a piece of salami, mozzarella and a pepperoncini on the side of your dinner salad.

What about Giant Hamburger?? I remember my parents taking me there as a kid. Of course, I don't eat there anymore...
Ooohhh, this is a good one. Except that I can't decide between Santa Clara (where I grew up), Chico (my college town) and Sacramento (my home for the last 8 years and where we'll raise our family).....so, here's all three.
Santa Clara...The bread at Florentine's with the cheese spread, mmmm. (If you are hungry for more than bread, try the spinach ravioli with marinara sauce.)
Chico...There are, again, too many to name, so here are the best of the best...Breakfast goes to Morning Thunder, must try a side of the potatoes. Burger, The Sourdough Bear Burger, mmmm. Pizza, Celestino's or Frankie's...any kind will be delicious. Beverage...in a town that is full of excellent (cheap) drinks...you must head to Sierra Nevada Brewery for the pints at $2.50 a piece...you won't find a better price outside of Chico for that.
Sacramento...I don't know if I have a hometown favorite here or just a laundry list of restaurants I'd miss if I were to ever leave....so here's the laundry
Mikuni's, Arigato, Lucca, Jack's, Dos Coyotes, Thai Cottage, El Palmar, and I'm sure many many more I'm forgetting.
In WC, I loved Sorrentos Fettucini Alfredo and my favorite chinese place was Spring Garden. I haven't found Chinese food anywhere else that I love that much.

We always got a pizza with linguisa, garlic, and sliced onions and a Sam Adams on the side.
DH and my brother really like that place but it never grew on me.
I LOVE DiCiccio's! Their calazones are to die for and their bread is soooo good. We live by two of them. I grew up in a small town just south of Fresno and there is a restaurant called Sal's that has the BEST Mexican food ever. There is also a Sal's in Fresno which I think is just as good but everyone says "it's not the original." Yeah, well, I'm not driving 30 minutes every time I want Sal's. There is also a killer Mediterranean restaurant in Fresno called House of Kabaab (sp?).
