Poll: Best Thing I Ever Ate
I know a few people on the board watch the show, but you can participate in the poll even if you don't. Answer with the best thing you ever ate in the following categories - don't feel bad if it's not super-fancy, some of mine are definitely going to be from chain restaurants! So what's the best thing you ever ate:
-On a roll/bun/bread?
-On a tortilla?
-Best steak?
-Best overall entree?
-Added: Best soup?
Feel free to add more categories!
Re: Poll: Best Thing I Ever Ate
-On a roll/bun/bread?
Either a cheesesteak at a hole-in-the-wall where Jeff is from in NJ, or the blackened chicken sandwich at The Cheesecake Factory (the grilled bread and Fontina cheese makes it killer!)
-On a tortilla?
The marlin quesadillas with pepper jack sauce we had on our HM
-Best steak?
The filet at Ruth's Chris. But we haven't been to other fancy steakhouses.
-Best overall entree?
Guinness Braised Filet Mignon - demi glace * asparagus *
smoked gouda + jalapeno + bacon grits (at a local restaurant called Jack's Bistro)
-ETA Best Soup:
The seafood bisque we get from a takeout place called Steamers in OBX
I can't think of things for all the categories right now, but:
- best steak:
steak (don't know what cut) with a bourbon cream sauce and bacon at a local place
- best soup:
salmon and asparagus bisque at same restaurant
- favorite Cheesecake Factory sandwich (I worked there for 3 years in college):
grilled chicken and avocado club
-On a roll/bun/bread? This is really boring but I like ham on a warm roll with just a dab of mayo and cheese.
-On a tortilla? Chicken Fajitas from a restuarant called Iron Cactus.
-Best steak? I think the steaks I make are the best. Specifically one I made about 6 months ago on the george forman grill.
-Best overall entree? Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Mongollian beef and steamed rice from PF CHangs.
-Best soup? Tortillas from Chuys or Cheddar Broccoli from Schlotzkys (sp?)
-On a roll/bun/bread?
wow...I dunno. I guess I like proscuitto, pesto, roasted peppers and moz. From pretty much anywhere
- on a Tortilla? I don't do tortillas, but El Toro Bravo in Annapolis has a mushroom steak quesedilla that is to DIE for.
-Best steak? Hands down, a filet with Roquefort that I had at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. And I've eaten at a lot of reputable steakhouses.
-Best soup - there's this local restuarant that's decent around here. Nothing to write home about. They make this poratabello mushroom soup with truffle oil and it's one of my favourite things.

-Best overall entree? chicken parm

What restaurant. I grew up in Rhode Island..
I think it's called a Rachel? From this little diner near work. Turkey, Provolone & Coleslaw on Rye. But it's good on anything.
-On a tortilla? Okay, so it's not a tortilla - it's pita bread - that's close, right? BLT stuffed in a Pita at Garganos. zomg.
-Best steak? Not a big steak eater. Probably was something homemade since we try different marinades @ home and I rarely order it when we're out.
-Best overall entree? Lobster Napoleon from the Marblehead - awesome seafood joint.
-Added: Best soup? My own version of Italian Wedding - w/ turkey meatballs & orzo.
Super hard. I have a problem picking best overall foods without more specific categories.
-On a roll/bun/bread? turkey club at the Blue Fountain Diner -On a tortilla? cheese enchilada at Las Margaritas, hole in the wall Mexican place near my house
-Best steak? ribeye at Bern's in Tampa, FL
-Best overall entree? I think this is impossible. I can probably break it down by type of cuisine, and right now I want italian so rigatoni vodka at Popi's in South Philly or for lunch Chicken Sorrento at Ralph's in South Philly.
-Added: Best soup? either french onion soup at the Blue Fountain Diner or snapper soup at the Newportville Inn. I also love the shrimp bisque at The Lobster House in Cape May.
-On a roll/bun/bread?
A fresh crabcake sandwitch from this restaraunt on Cape Cod I love to go to all the time every summer
-On a tortilla?
Quesadillas or empanadas (made with fresh home-made tortillas then deep fried) from DH's Aunt. O.M.G.
-Best steak?
Don't eat streak - it grosses me out.
-Best overall entree?
Baked stuffed shrimp with a baked potatoe and steamed vegetables at a seafood place down the Cape
-ETA Best Soup:
Award Winning New England Clam Chowder from my favorite restaraunt of all time - also down the Cape lol. I'm noticing a theme here.
-On a tortilla? I cannot choose. Generally, if something is in/on a tortilla, it means I'll like it.
-Best steak? H makes a flank steak with this special rub that I call "awesome steak". It is the best steak I have ever eaten. My mouth waters just thinking of it. I'm so lucky to have my H.
-Best overall entree? Lamb chops at Emeril's Orlando. They were in some kinda of cherry demi-glaze and I don't remember what was on the side. I just remember heaven.
-Added: Best soup? New England Clam Chowder in a sour dough bread bowl that I got from a place in a renovated warehouse on Fisherman's Wharf in SF
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
I swear I could eat only smoked gouda for the rest of my life and I'd be happy. On the HM, they had a cheese station at the buffet by the pool and I was constantly eating smoked gouda. Good cheese is soooooooo expensive.
