Happy first married hearts day ladies. We don't celebrate, but we do exchange cards and tonight, we bowl. (Grease 2 reference, catch it!)
I could not go to sleep last night because I was reading a stupid James Patterson and wanted to finish it. I was downstairs watching the Grammys and went upstairs at 11, I was reading and then up until 1 something. I woke MFD up too. Whoops. Solleee.
Staff meeting today, so I didn't have to pack lunch. My exercise for the day is going to be bowling since the meeting happens over lunch when I usually hit the gym.
I'm so happy it's going to be warmer this week.
I had a really great low key weekend. Lots of time with MFD and with friends, lots of laughs.
Re: Monday. Discuss.
happy valentine's day! DH called out today because he's sick...
I hope he feels better soon my mom's making a nice dinner tonight and I'm making a nice dinner tomorrow night!
stephanie, what james patterson are you reading? i am reading him too right now--the 8th women's murder club book.
have been awake since 2:30 am...woke up feeling a little ill, got some water, and as i was laying back down, gerren bolted to the bathroom and threw up from 2:30 am until i left for work at 6:30. i was up rubbing his back and making sure he was ok (he also has a fractured rib--lots of pain) all night. not sure if my valentine's day dinner will be post-poned or not.

We went out to lunch on Saturday and had crab cakes and then wandered into an amazing chocolate place and bought chocolate covered strawberries the size of your face and milk chocolate covered caramel with sea salt. I need to go back and buy more of the sea salt things IMMEDIATELY. It is unbelievably good. And whats even better is H doesn't like them so they'd be ALL MINE!!!
I'm completely overwhelmed at work with the amount of stuff I have to do. I don't even know where to begin. So I'm procrastinating and posting this. I have something like 60 hours worth of stuff to do this week not including meetings tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.
I just wanna go home, cook my fancy dinner and drink some wine.

Happy Valentines Day! I got chocolates and roses from Ivan this morning, and he made reservations at a nice restaraunt in the city tonight! I'm distracted at work because I can't wait to go into the city and have a nice romantic dinner with him, as cheesy as that sounds.
On top of that, one of my co-workers brought in choclates for everyone, and this afternoon my hospital is having a celebration since we did really well on our recent audit. Desert is being served. Sweets, sweets, sweets everywhere today and I'm trying to be good before going out to eat! *ugh*
Shauni - this weekend I read Tick Tock. I enjoy the books where he writes with other authors. They are twisted though.
I started A Visit From the Goon Squad this morning.
Oh no poor Gerren! And you, hope you're both feeling better soon.
Despite how much I read (a lot) I've never read one of JP's mysteries. I loved the sappy books he did - Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, Sam's Letters to ____ and I forget what the other one was - breakfast something? Guess I should give them a go.
K surprised me w/ roses & a card on Friday night - can't believe he got his V-Day act together 3 days early!! (He usually buys the card on V-Day, on his way home from work). He was very sweet on Friday. Then kind of an azz on Saturday & Sunday. Oh well. Expecting a call from him later since I stashed his card & candy in his lunch bag.
Got lots of cleaning/laundry/reading/etc done this weekend and seriously caught up on sleep. Hopefully it means I won't be a zombie all week. Excited to pick out paint colors for the nursery & the basement. Would like to get at least one of them painted next weekend.
Only four days to work this week - took Wednesday off - doc appt, hair cut, mani/pedi & just generally relaxing. Can't wait.
Steph - what is MFD? I know who it is, but what is the literal translation??
Other than work, going to make some carne asada burritos for dinner and probably start packing up the books and movies. So stoked we're moving out of this apartment in 12 days.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Happy V-day! We're not celebrating this year, no cards or flowers or gifts. I'll cook something good tonight. I'm really thinking about getting some steaks and grilling those but we'll see.
This weekend was fun. Jeremy's bro and FSIL gave him a surprise party Friday night for finishing his school and we were up til after 3 partying and because I can never sleep when I drink and go to bed late, I was up at 6:45! Saturday was super long (and no nap) and then we hit a mexican place for some margaritas and then to a bar after. We did get back home around 1 which was better and I didn't get up til 10 Sunday so that was better. I won't even go into the drama his mom has going on because it's just ridiculous.
I'm swamped at work again. I have to finish testing a kiddo then score it. And I have a meeting this week and have to test 3 more kids. I'm so ready for Friday because I'm going to Jacksonville, FL to see one of my besties from college and I have next Mon/Tues off.
Lyns, I'm so excited for you! Happy packing!
I will be spending V-Day home alone tonight (because of Richard's schedule). I'm okay with that because we celebrated over the weekend. On Sat we made flat iron steaks with a red wine suace, and green beans. For dessert we made chocolate covered strawberries, and polished off a bottle of wine. Yesterday we made red velvet cupcakes and R looked so cute piping the frosting on them. He gave me flowers yesterday, my favorite Stargazer Lilies & tulips.
On the agenda for tonight: gym, running & doing laundry.
I'm studying from home today and taking a lunch break right now. We don't celebrate Valentine's day, but tomorrow is our 6-year dating anniversary. We went to Ruth's Chris last weekend as a super-early celebration, knowing that this past weekend the restaurants would be flooded with Valentine's couples, and we don't have anything else planned.
This past weekend was recruitment for Jeff's school so we got to go the aquarium for free and had a really nice catered meal there, with a pretty view of the harbor. There was another school doing some kind of formal event, maybe for a fraternity or something, and they were touring the aquarium at the same time as our group, making me feel very under-dressed. It was also awkward because you would turn a corner and run into a couple making out. At least dinner was separate!
I'm here, but working from home today because I have a migraine and can't take my Rx medicine, because we're trying to get pg. Urgh, Tylenol is not cutting it.
DH took me to out for an amazing dinner last night. We both had the chicken, which was cooked like duck confit. Ohhh, so good. And I made the champagne cupcakes with this almond champagne that I bought a while ago - an ill-advised late in the wine tasting day purchase. But it was great in the cupcakes! The frosting was super light and fluffy.
I had the busiest weekend I have had in months. Friday I get to work super early (because people from corporate were coming in) after work I go straight to the grocery store then to my dads house and my brother got on town about an hour later then we hung out there and made dinner got home at 1030 that night. H left work early and got home at 11pm and had a massive bouquet for me. A dozen white roses and a dozen red carnations and nice greenery.
Saturday me and H get up and I head over to my dads house and got home that night at 9pm. Sunday I went to my dads to catch my brother and SIL before they head back home. Then I went to my moms and picked her up so she could go shopping with me. We went to Avenue, DSW shoes, then to Tiff's Treats so I could pick up H some cookies and brownies, (they put them in a cute valentines box, I get them every year for him), then we went to Lane Bryant and Old Navy. I went home and started to get ready for our V-Day dinner since H works tonight. We went to PF Changs, nothing fancy but my favorite, I might have had alittle to much Sake last night. I drank a bottle of sparkling sake then the waiter wanted us to try some unfiltered sake so he brought some over (free) and I drank mine and H. And then some of his Flat Tire beer (i got alittle giggly). When we got home we rented Paranormal Activity 2. It was ok not as scary as 1.
I take Relpax, and my GP said it's not been tested with pregnancy, so she recommends not taking it. Boo. I may need to do my own research, though.
Eenteresting, because I take Relpax too. Maybe talk to an actual neurologist, since a GP is so, well, general? According to my neuro, it's completely fine during TTC because it doesn't affect the early stages, so as long as you stop taking it once you find out you're pregnant you're fine. He said there's actually no evidence that it would be bad during pregnancy, but until more studies are done it's a 'better safe than sorry' scenario, so he would switch me to something else while pregnant. There are definitely acute meds out there that you can take while pregnant, though, so if you're unsure about the Relpax while TTC you could try one of those.
Grrr, that's annoying. Thank you for the information! I've never seen a neurologist about my migraines because until the past year, they were pretty infrequent.
Not to be the preachy girl that's seen the light, but if you can see a neurologist I really recommend it. I know that it's not always feasible depending on your insurance, but it has made an enormous difference for me. I was getting pretty sub-par treatment before and didn't even realize it - until seeing my current doctor I really thought I was stuck with the partially-effective drug I was on and its crappy side effects. My neuro now is quick to react to changes and has made me a lot more aware of how various triggers affect my migraines.
He has been really proactive in my treatment, and he takes time to explain my various options - I honestly had no idea how many different drugs were out there, and he has been patient and willing to go through as many of them as it took until I found something that worked. He's willing to explore alternative therapies like botox, and cheap/free options like breathing exercise and other forms of stress management. He's also a lot more perceptive of changes in mood, behavior, seemingly unrelated symptoms, etc. that a GP might miss, and I feel like he actually reads my freaking chart and reviews it before each visit so he connects the dots when I'm talking.
Edit: I'm not saying your GP isn't doing a good job. But I do think that a GP is less familiar with the ins and outs of migraines and their treatment, so it's really beneficial if you can see a headache specialist.
