Working out in the AM ? Advice please
Ok my ladies who workout and run, etc. -
By the time I get out of work, come home and make diner, etc. I have hardly any motivation to get back out in the winter and go to the gym. Summer not a problem I hit up the bike path.
My question is this should I have something before the gym ? some sort of protein?? HELP!!
TIA!
Re: Working out in the AM ? Advice please
I am a bit confused....are you going to the gym in the am or after work? you said that you can't get to the gym in the winter after work.
Anyway, really as long as you are hydrated and not hungry you should be fine. It all depends on when your last meal was. You don't want to go more than 4 hours. Focus on quick carbohydrates right before the gym (30-60 minutes) and carbs and protein for after the workout.
GL!!
great job!!
Running on the Rhode
I hate you very much
I want to get up at 5am and go to gym before i go to work for 8am... sorry was in my head lol.
I was thinking if I got myself into waking up early I would have the motivation to stay on a better schedule.
Hey lady?for me it depends on the level of exertion and what I?m doing. During the week I will work out at night, after work. If I?m just going lifting then I will eat dinner before hand, but if I?m doing any kind of running over 4 miles I know I need to eat something b/c its too far from lunch, but not a full meal b/c I?d get sick if I had a full meal?I usually eat a granola bar on the train and then eat dinner after I run. But if it is a morning long run where I?m running upwards of 6 miles then I have to eat breakfast.
What to eat was trial and error for me to see what didn?t ?repeat? on me (example, peanut butter?great source of protein but it repeated my entire run so it was not a good selection for me) and what gave me the most fuel?for me it?s either steel cut oats and almonds or a fried egg with a slice of cheese melted on it.
One thing that I learned I can?t do before a morning workout is a coffee?I find personally I get dehydrated more during a run if I have had a coffee. Hydration is also important. If I?m even the slightest bit dehydrated I won?t be able to sustain my energy level no matter how much food-fuel I have in me. I think it?s going to be trial and error for you since everyone?s body reacts differently.
I work out in the morning 6 am, I do not eat, I drink some water before I start and through the workouts. No problems here J
I eat a banana or something small when I get home quick and eat my full breakfast about 8:30 when I get to work.
