store picture online- with download available
DH and I are getting a new PC, and need to combine pictures from a seriousy old dinasour desktop and our current laptop onto the new one. We woud like to save all these pictures from the old PC's onto an online storage site, and then re-download them onto the new PC. Shutterfly, flickr, and snapfish do not allow yo do redownlod the photos once you upload them. it would be Grand if i could do a "bulk" upload, and "bulk" download also..
Any recommendations?
Re: store picture online- with download available
i'd get an external harddrive. I have one and I just plugged it in to my old computer and it backed up everything and then attached it to my new laptop and i can drag anything i went on to the new laptop... and it is backed up on the hard drive as a secondary backup.
I assume if you say it will cost a grand there are a LOT. they now have external harddrives with Terrabites that are not too expensive. Definitely less than a grand. a thumb drive may take forever if you have thousands of pictures unless you get a really large thumb drive.
Huh, I had to double check re: not being able to download images from Flickr.
I did exactly this in bulk when we used them for wedding photo sharing in 2009. I guess the program I used is now illegal:

Yeah, thumb drive or external hard drive is the way to go. You can use the external hard drive for data back-up once you're set up on your new computer.
Go to www.smugmug.com
They have a free option and a pro option.
You can decide if you want it downloadable or not.
THey are very helpful.
