Crawling around on your hands and knees behind your desk, trying not to burst into tears!
I happened to look down @ my hand in the bathroom about 10 mins ago and noticed, HOLYMOTHEROFGOD, the middle stone on my engagement ring is GONE. Just a big gaping platinum "o" staring back at me. I searched around on the floor in the bathroom, but hadn't heard anything drop, so I went racing into my office and immdeately dropped to my knees and began searching behind my desk, explaining to our French designer what the eff I was doing while holding back tears. By the luck of the Irish, I was actually able to locate the stone withing about 2 minutes of searching, which is completely shocking considering the back side of my office looks like downtown Bhagdad. I'm eternally thankful, and triple wrapped the ring and loose stone in small sealable bags, and plan on bringing it up to my jeweler in Maine this weekend (where we bought the ring) to have it re-set.
So now I'm ringless and husbandless. Sad panda face!
I'm going to go find some chocolate.
Re: Fun Way to Spend V-Day Lunch...
I held my breath through this whole post until you found the stone! Thank goodness!!!
Think of it this way -- when it gets re-set, it'll be cleaned and all shiny and lovely.

Yikes! Thank goodness you found it. I was nervous reading the post.
A few years ago, my mom took her rings off to get them re-sized and put them in an envelope. My dad came along and threw out the envelope. My mom had to get new rings. But, before she did, she came down to the kitchen one morning and my dad had left her his ring on the table with a note saying "Wear this until we get you some new ones."
This is an amazing Valentine's story! So glad you found the stone Mollie! And I loved the Gollum reference on FB!
Aw Jen- your dad gets major points for redemption in a bad situation, so sweet!
No joke- I felt like effing Gollum when I found my "precious", I probably would have jumped into the lava after it!

OMG! I'm so glad you found it! And this has me cackling:
this!
OMG I would have died! I often just look down every once in a while so afraid this will happen.
My mom lost her first diamond in the bathtub, giving one of us a bath.
So glad you found it!
I had the same pit in my stomach on Friday just as I was leaving for work. DH called to tell me he wasn't wearing his wedding ring and he wasn't sure where it was or how long it had been gone. I was super mad at him (for not noticing it was gone) but super motivated to find it (mostly because of the price). Needless to say I stayed home for 1 1/2 hours until I found it, then showed up to work late.
