Re: Poll about cars
I have only owned two cars in my life. I hate car payments and I drive my cars until the wheels fall off
1. My first car was a 1997 VW Cabrio. I got it when I was 16 and drove it until I was 25. They only reason why I got rid of it was because the AC broke and I didn't want to put anymore money into the car.
2. My second car I bought was a 2007 VW Jetta (I think it's a 2007. I bought it in the end of 2006 but I can't remember if it was the new year model or not). I don't really like it and I don't think I will buy another VW. I have had a ton of little things break or not hold up on this car and I feel like it was cheaply made.

My first car was a Nissan Sentra. I think it was a 97 or something. It had some crazy miles on it when I got it. It lasted about a year and a half.
My second car I LOVED! It was a Saturn ion 2005 in summer blue. Below is a pic I stole from Google so you can see what the color looks like.
And now I have a Saturn Vue 2008.
I love my crazy child!

I don't think I have ever seen a car this color. Maybe I have and I just don't remember. But it's a fun color!! What color is your vue now?
My current car is a dark gray color but I really wanted a white one. At the time they didn't have a white car in stock that meet all the needs I wanted. My first car was dark green with a tan top. I LOVED that car and I would love to have another Cabrio but it has been discontinued

First Car in high school - 1993 BMW 325i - got it used. It was 3 years old I think when I got it.
When I went to college - 2000 Honda Accord - sweet ride. 2 door - V6 - every option. I loved that car, but we sold it when I went in the Peace Corps.
When I grew up and bought my own car - 2001 Camry. Notice the step back I took. I paid cash for this car and it will last forever. It does have leather and a sun roof... and I'm surprised it doesn't have a tape deck

1. 1989 Nissan Maxima. I LOVED that car....it was sooo old but I was so sad when it died....
2. 1999 Honda Civic. I drove it till it had just about 200k miles and was 11 years old.
3. I am obsessed with my car now...2008 Honda Pilot. I love it. Dark charcoal grey. It is huge. I hope to have it for many many years to come:)
My Vue is a dark red color. I don?t know if you would call it maroon or burgundy. It wasn?t the color I wanted (I wanted white or dark grey) but it works.
We only have one car right now which sucks. I really want to buy a second car but I don?t know if that will happen any time soon or not.
I love my crazy child!
My Bio
I've owned too many cars ...
1996 Saturn - through college
2000 Mazda Miata ... until I almost wrapped myself around a telephone pole during an icy New England Winter - owned it less than a year
1998 Audi A4 ... bought it used and it started having engine problems and they told me it would be around $6K to fix. Sold (less than six months later Audi did a recall and replaced the engines on all of them)
2002 - VW Jetta. It was new, but a lemon. In the 18 months I owned it I had to bring it in 12 times for manufacturing defects. (i.e. windows wouldn't go up, heat wouldn't turn on, check engine light was always flashing, etc.)
2003 - Bought a Toyota Highlander. Bought it new, and had it for six years. It was a high mileage car, because I was commuting about 3 1/2 hours a day, and the gas mileage sucked. When gas was teetering around $4.00 a gallon I traded it for a 2009 Camry that got much better mileage. That's what I have now.

PAIF/SAIF/PGAL welcome
1) My first car was a red 1987 Chevy Cavalier. It died when I was a freshman in college.
2) My second car was a silver 1997 Ford Probe. I loved that car. Itwas cute and sporty and had the nicest interior of any car I've owned. It only has 7k miles on it when I bought- some old man had owned ir previously. Sadly, it was totally in a hit and run accident when I lived in Atlanta.
3) I had blue Chevy Cavalier- I think it was a 1999. I traded it in to buy my current car after I had replaced the alternator for the third time in two years.
4) I currently had a dark blue 2005 Toyota Corolla. It is the only car I've ever owned brand new. It has been a wonderful and reliable car. Sadly, I will have to sell her before we move since I'm not allowed to drive in KSA. I will miss her.
My first car- 1999 Kia Sportage- Loved that little green jeep! I wrecked it.
My nana bought me a hooptie 1992 Buick Regal(car had like 22k miles on it)!
I now own a 2002 Mits Galant............ It has almost 200k miles on it, and I am so ready to get a new car, in the next few months it will be either a Lincoln Aviator, Toyota Camry, or Honda Accord, I also like the Chevy Equinox. So hopefully I make a final decision.
My first car was an 86 chevy caprice classic, aka big blue. I got it in 97. It was my grandparents car, then my mom's, then my grandpa bought my mom a new car and told her to give me big blue. Sadly, I wrecked her a year later.
My second car was a 91 toyota tercel. My mom and I bought it outright so I wouldn't have payments. She was a good car, got me around where I needed. I got rid of her because she was starting to give me problems. My grandpa had recently passed away and we were keeping his car in the family. My sister "bought" grandpa's car and I "bought" my sisters.
Third car was an 98 chevy cavilere. My sister owned it before me. It was a great car. But, alas, in 03 she was causing me problems so I traded her in.
My fourth car was an 03 chevy blazer. I loved my blazer. She had a moon roof and 6 cd in dash changer. It was a great car. Never gave me too many problems, until the electrical system started to crap out. It started with replacing the battery every year, then every six months. I also had to have a new ignition put in because she wouldn't let go of my key! I eventually traded her in.
My fifth, and most recent car is my 08 Jeep Wrangler. I love, love, love my jeep. It is a four door, hard top. It has been the most reliable car I have owned. I do have car payments, but I'm ok with that. I always wanted a jeep. When I went and test drove it there were litterally 2 miles on it. I put 7 more miles on it during my test drive and bought it the next day. It has been the best car I have ever owned!
My first car was a brand spanking new white Dodge Neon, 1995 (but I bought it in 1994 the day before prom and thought I was so cool). I think it was like 8k brand new. It didn't have AC, power steering, power locks or windows, and it only came with AM/FM so the first thing I did was get a cassette deck installed. I put 150k miles on it in 7 years before the computer went. I loveeed that car.
Eventually I had to replace it so I bought a used 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage. It was burgandy with black and tan interior and I like wine and beer so I loved the connotations of the colors. Hated the car. An AARP member totalled it for me which was awesome (since noone was hurt) and I bought my current car that is equally as bad.
2005 Toyota Corolla, grey. Booooring.
I am on my 4th car...
My parents bought me a 1993 Chrysler Le Baron Convertible for my 16th bday. It was red and I thought I was hot stuff!
Then my aunt crashed it less than 2 years later and ruined it. My parents then bought me another Le Baron Convertible. This one was a 1994 and teal green.
Then when I graduated college I bought a 2002 black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Loved it!
We still have the jeep, but bought a 2010 grey Toyota Highlander last year. So far so good
1995 Toyota Corolla at age 16. Lasted me until I wrecked it in 2003.
Then I got what I currently drive - 2001 Toyota Camry.
Moonstone - I'm surprised you said yours doesn't have a tape deck because mine does. I was just laughing at that the other day.
I'm ready for an upgrade, but hubby just got a 2011 Camry (yeah, we're a Toyota family) and we don't need 2 car payments. Guess I'm riding it until the wheels fall off.

I have owned 2 cars since I was 20, not too exciting I know.
The first was a...now don't get jealous...1990 grey Toyota Corolla station wagon. Awesome I know. I got it in college, and let me tell you, I was the envy of well, no one really. It had been my uncle's and when he died in 1991, it went to my mom. She got a new car so it came to me in 1999. I had it until 2004.
My second and current car is a 2002 maroon Ford Focus. Nothing special except I bought it on Ebay, which thankfully worked out well for me.
Speaking of old cars.....I sold my first car to someone who lives down the street from me. It was sold in good condition, but anymore I cringe when I see it drive by. It was a convertible and I guess at some point the top started to rip so they cut it off. Like, the whole top! Also, at some point they replaced the hood so it's another color than the rest of the car.
But what I think the best part about my old car is a little old Mexican guy drives it. He is about 65, has a mustache and wears a cowboy hat every where he goes. Haha. He just can't wear the hat when he is driving the car since it has no top.

I have owned lots of cars, all crappy used things that sucked.
My first car (in HS) was a 1986 Dodge Omni. It was light gray with ugly bubbly purple tint on the windows. It sounded like a lawn mower and literally just stopped running when it rained. This was the car that lasted me the longest, so that tells you something.
My second car was a 1991 Eagle Talon, also gray. It had some sort of computer problem and I only had it a few months because it died randomly all the time and would've been too expensive to fix.
Next was a red Honda Prelude, 1989 maybe? Older model. LOVED that car. It had a sunroof which was my favorite part. However, I had it during college and wasn't driving it every day, and if you didn't drive it every day, it died. So it died a lot and I had to get rid of it because a dead car is not useful to me.
Next was a 1990 Honda Civic. Nice little car. It was totaled in a four-car pileup in Gainesville, while I was on my way to my first day of work at a new job. I also fractured my sternum. Awesome.
My mom replaced my Civic for me with some wretched gold 1985 Cadillac or some such thing. It was absurd. She got it for like $200 or something. I only kept it a few months until I finally moved to DC and didn't need a car.
That's all I've had, although FIL also gave my H an early 90s Lexus for Christmas one year. We used that car for a couple years in DC before FIL un-gifted it and asked for it back. Sigh.
I loooooooove not needing a car now!

My first car was a burnt orange Buick Skyhawk I got when I was 16. It was older but in perfect condition. A couple years later someone hit me and totaled it. I didn't know how much I love it until it was gone.
My second car was a POS Nissan Pulsar. I thought it was cute and sporty, but once I bought it, I discovered it was like driving a tuna can...and one that frequently had no working power steering or a/c. I hated it and had it for less than a year.
After that I bought my first brand new car, 1996 Dodge Neon. I had it for 5 years and LOVED it. It was the best car ever. I did little to no matience and had no problems ever. It was a bright periwinkle color and so girly!
For the past 10 years, I've had a Nissan Xterra. It's been a pretty good car. I've had occasional issues, but nothing major. I'd like to get a new car, but it's so nice not to have payments.
1997 Buick Century Green... got passed down from my mom to my brother then to me until it got totaled in an accident
2004 Izuzu Ascender until I went away to college (it was cheaper to have no car than have a car I would be driving every now and then)
2006 Ford Taurus with 92K miles on it now.... I'm thinking it is time to get a new vehicle, but that will have to wait until DH's is paid off (May) and we readjust our budget a little bit more.

I'm telling you, my camry was hot stuff in its day.
I actually wish it did have a tape deck. My accord did not have a tape deck, and I insisted they add a tape deck because I had tons of "mixed tapes" from my early high school days that I wanted to preserve.

I was 18 (1999) when I got my first car. I got a 1994 Ford Explorer. It was a great car, but eventually Dad got tired of paying for the repairs and I started to have to pay for them. Once I got tired of that after about 2 years and traded it in.
I then got a 1999 Mercury Cougar. It was a 2 door sports car. I always felt like it was a little on the cheap side. I got into a t-bone accident in downtown Tampa on the way to jury duty. Somebody hit me, right behind the driver's door (thank god it wasn't inches forward otherwise I would've been in trouble). After the accident it was totaled.
I then got a 2002 Toyota Solara (LOVED this car). I drove that for about 2 years and decided I wanted to an SUV again. I was stupid and traded it in.
I got a 2004 Isuzu Axiom. They stopped making them after 2004, and right then and there it should've told me something. We had it for 2 years and traded it in.
I now drive a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I love it! We've had it for almost 4 years, and don't see trading it in any time soon.
My first car was a used 1990 Ford Mustang. My parents bought it for me to use during high school as a bribe to drive my little brother too. It had steering issues and other older car problems, but I loved it.
My second was a red 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. I absolutely loved this thing! For everything that came with the price, nothing on the market could beat it at the time. I actually met DH directly because of this car (he had the same kind), so it has a special place in my heart. I actually cried when it came time to trade it in.
My third (and current) is a black 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. When DH and I got engaged, we realized having two little 2-door hatchbacks wasn't going to work out well for us. Since my Tiburon was just coming up on all of the pricey 60k repairs (and he'd already paid for all of his), we figured mine was the better car to trade. I love my Santa Fe! I can haul so much crap in it and it really drives like a much smaller vehicle. The turn radius is ridiculous and it's such a comfy ride.
Our other vehicle (which we traded in DH's Tiburon for) is a black 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. This is our fun car and I love driving this thing. The rear-wheel drive is awesome and the acceleration is ridiculous. It's such a sexy, sporty little thing

My very first car was a 1989 Ford Tempo. I had my license 6 weeks and someone hit me and it was totaled
My parents so generously got me a 1990 blue Tempo to replace it. I was just excited I had a car at 16.
The beginning of my senior year I got a 1998 Ford Escort, sport model. I thought I was driving a Lexus! It was a great car. I had a cassette player that had an attachment to be able to play cds!!
In college I got a 2000 (forget) red Pontiac Grand Am GT. It was 4 years old when I got it. It had a sun roof, all power AND a cd player. I drove it to 110,00 miles and traded it in as soon as we moved to FL.
As soon as we moved to FL and I got my first real job, I bought a new Pontiac Solstice convertible. It was black. I loved it. However after 9 months of no back seat, and no trunk, I traded it in.
I then bought a new 2008 Ford Explorer (which I currently drive). I have had it a little over 3 years. It's been a great car/SUV. But, I am always itching for a new car.
I just recently ordered a 2011 Ford Explorer and it will be here in March. It was so fun to custom order a car with everything I wanted.
I will always have a car payment b/c I get tired of my car after a few years....
