Please Tell Me...

That internal exams arent as bad as everyone makes them out to be? Mine is tomorrow and I think I am just freaking myself out like I did with the GTT test and then it wasn't as bad. I just hope that SOMETHING is happening down there because I am ready to be a mom and no longer a incubator.

  • It wasn't my favorite thing to have done, but it was never painful. They were always quick.

  • I didn't find it painful. And, like Prneyes said, it was quick.

  • I think it depends on the person doing it.  My office only does one at 36 weeks and that one was a bit intense for me, it did hurt.  But then I had another at 39 weeks when I thought my water broke and I felt nothing.  GL!

  • My office didn't do them at all, till you are actually in labor because you can change so much they said there is no reason as to why to do make you hurt for no reason.  I thought it was the most uncomfortable thing ever, maybe I'm wrong and it's different when they check to see if you are dilated in labor, but if that's the same thing, then I about jumped to the ceiling every time they did it!
  • Well, it didn't tickle. Practice for labor -- take deep breaths and go to your "happy place." I promise it's not as bad as labor contractions. :)
  • I didnt have any until I was in labor (I was actually transitioning when I had it-I was 9cm).  So at that point, my contractions were far worse than having fingers up there.  :-P
