Challenge Accepted...

If you could purchase any CAR at the moment (good gas milage, reasonably priced, 4-door) what would it be?

Per yesterdays awesomeness, we're looking to switch things up, possibly.  He had a 2003 Honda Accord.

Re: Challenge Accepted...

  • I would purchase a car with 4 wheel drive, due to the all the snow we've gotten this winter. I have a 2007 Civic now and really like it. It gets good gas milage. I can drive pretty well in the snow, but the car is light and does skid. I don't need or want anything too big so I'd probably look into something like the CRV or a crossover. Maybe even the Surbaru Outback now that it is more SUV-like.

  • Also, DH has a Mazda 3 hatch and loves that thing. With the back row of seats down he can fit a 5' object (like a tv stand or coffee table) in the back. Since we don't have a truck or SUV it has come in very handy.

  • My next "car" will be a Ford Edge. It's a cross over, but I just love the way they look...other than that, I don't know much about them.

For a real car, I really love my Impala. Mine is a 2003, but I still like how the newer models look as well. It's roomy and gets great gas mileage (avg. 29mpg)

I know nothing about them, but the Ford Edges looke pretty sharp!

I previously had a Chevy Malibu that got great gas mileage. Not sure how the newer ones are. That is the one thing I dislike about our cars now.

  • We really love our Ford Fusion (2008) and if I had to pick another car this minute it would be the same one.

I love the Fusion as well. My co-worker has one and I've ridden in a few times. Very sharp design and rides great!

  • Without knowing a price range its hard to recommend!

I had been planning on replacing my Acura RSX with a TSX (basically a Civic) but that isn't really in the cards anymore. We'll likely get a minivan in 2-3 yrs when the time comes to replace it (it runs fine and only has 130k on it, but its a two door and I don't know if we can get one car seat in it, much less several).

I love love my Forester and we plan to get an Outback when this one dies (no time soon I hope; its only a 2002 with 120k on it).

We really considered a Matrix for a while before we got the Forester. I have a couple of friends with Fits that love them.

  • Hyundai Elantra or Sonata- we love our Elantra , it has been a great car.

But for me and because of future kids my dream car right now is a Dodge Journey, 3 rows and NOT a minivan haha

  • I've had my Forester for almost 2 years (next month) and I still love it as much as the day I brought it home.  Fits the baby, the dog, us and all our stuff, gets decent gas mileage, and seriously drives better in inclement weather than it does on a bright, sunny day.

  • I really love my '06 Ford Fusion. I get regularly get 23mpg and drive in the city. I generally average about 25mph when I fill up (it calculates it for me). When we have driven it for long distances on the interstate, it gets over 30mpg. It drives and handles in all weather conditions really well. It's comfortable. Roomy interior and a large trunk. I like the way it looks.

So, I would choose a Ford Fusion. The newer ones get even better gas mileage and have extra bells and whistles standard.

  • We actually have an eye on a mini-van ::Gasp::, I know it's sad, but it's time to make the leap as it's just so much easier with a baby.  I don't think we'll purchase one until 2012, though.  We'll be getting a Toyota Sienna with AWD.

  • We're looking at the Chrysler 200 (for A) and the Dodge Journey (for me). Both our cars are older and we're probably going to replace them both within the next 2 years. A has a 2007 PT Cruiser and I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty. My dad works for Chrysler so I'll never buy from another company unless for some reason we lose his discount. But even then, I'll only ever buy from the Big 3.

  • Hmm, not sure that I'm much help. Our next car is about 2-3 years away, and will be a larger SUV...I really like the Acadia.

Like PP said, I would definitely get something w/ 4wd. After driving our Sentra in the winter it's sooooo much nicer to have the 4wd in the CRV.

I totally respect that.  Subaru USA is headquartered right down the street from where Brendan is from, and they employ a lot of people in our region, and do a TON for the local community, food banks, etc, so I like that we're supporting them and that did play a part in my decision.

BTW, I get chills every time they run that Chrysler commercial (although I haven't seen the full version again since the first time).

  • I have the Subaru Outback that we got last year. To be perfectly honest if I had to pick over again I would make the same choice. I love having the AWD, it seriously came in handy the one crazy storm we got here in DC. I also love the new lines. The fact it doesn't look like a wagon anymore is really nice Smile I really wanted a car that would be environmentally friendly and made in the USA. Subaru fit all of those criteria. It is was made in Indiana in Zero Landfill plant. Subaru uses all the materials or recycles everything that can't be used. Plus I get good gas milage; city ranges from 20 to 24 and highway I get about 30.

  • I am in the market for a Mazda CX7 (well at the end of this year), however, before a small SUV I was considering the Nissan Altima.

  • We love DH's 2007 Camry, fantastic gas mileage and we got a really good deal on it.

My next car will be some sort of a small SUV or crossover.  I'd like a Venza, but I want them to be out a few years so we can get a used one.

  • In September I got a 2011 Chevy Traverse, AWD.  I *LOVE* it.  It would be my choice if I had to get another car anytime soon.

My dream car is a Jaguar...any kind.
