Was everyone's Valentine's day what they were hoping it would be? For some of you, it wasn't a big deal. Anyone get any nice surprises?
Re: V Day
We agreed we weren't celebrating this year, as far as actual gifts. We went out to eat 4 times over the course of the weekend and spent a lot of quality time together (compared with H working half the weekend - lol). But he did surprise me with a box of chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva. A pregnant woman's dream come true.
The only thing that could have made the day better - was say, having a baby!
Getting VD is a disappointment for sure.
I almost bought DH a card, but then I decided against spending the $4.99 and made him one on printer paper instead. It was full of jokes about how perfect my card was for a cheap couple like us. I also got him a $30 GC to Amazon so he will hopefully finally get some books for the Kindle I bought him two months ago.
He made me dinner as my gift. DH cooking is always a nice (and very rare) treat. He's a decent cook, but he pretends like he isn't so I'll do the cooking most of the time.
I saw my H for about 5 minutes yesterday. He was suppose to work from 8 AM to 6 PM then come home and go back to work at 10 PM. Well, I guess they jumped a group and he worked right through his supposed down time between 6-10 PM. He came home for about 5 minutes to eat some leftovers from dinner I cooked.
Basically, this Valentines Day was about as romantic as Valentines Days in the past :P

H and I met for coffee yesterday afternoon at Cafe Hey. Super chill coffee shop bordering on a slightly sketchy part of town. I felt like I was in Austin again.
H surprised me with a cupcake and 4 small pieces of my favorite type of chocolate - spicy aztec. Yum. I wasn't expecting anything, and even those this was small, it was a nice surprise.
After work, we went on a nice run together and then vegged out for the rest of the night.
It was a great night.

H and I both worked at night. It is "tradition" for us to work valentines day because 7 years ago after work is when we "hooked up" for the first time. It is always so crazy that night at work that we went out and had shots after, then back to his place to play beer pong. I like to say he won
Well, anyway, we agreed no gifts because I am on a diet so no chocolates (my favorite), and we are spending $ on bike helmets so no money to be spent on flowers. Turns out one of the girls who works for him got roses delivered to her from someone she didn't want them from, so he bought them from her for $10. They are beautiful
Work was absolutely crazy. I feel like I got run over by a train and might forgo the mountain bike ride today for some nice peaceful yoga. Valentines day is torture for the restaurant worker.
Mine was good I wasn?t expecting much with work and then school we usually have a nice dinner at home and exchange cards and small gifts the cards are my favorite part H hand makes them there so special!
I was kinda sad I wouldn?t bee seeing H much then at work I get called up to my bosses office and there?s H with roses! I know so cheesy but he never does anything like that! He?s extremely thoughtful and generous but hates stuff like that because he hates the attention, but it was very nice and my dreadful cubicle smells like a garden J
Score for you! That's kind of funny.
DH & I took the puppy to the beach. It was super cold & disgustingly dirty, so we didn't stay too long. Once we got home, we cooked dinner together. Great night.

That is so sweet!! I love it that he makes you cards!
I got a Kindle back in October or November and I have yet to buy any books for it. I had small stack of books to read first, and for some reason it's just taken me a long time to get through them. I am on the last one though. So far, the only thing I've used my Kindle for is playing word games, and my H, who gave it to me, keeps telling me to just buy some books on it already.
DH hasn't even used his for that much since we have the iPad for playing games on. He's also stuck on a hard-copy book he wants to finish first. We've both been reading the same books for months! I know he'll use the Kindle when we go overseas though b/c we won't be able to ship too many books.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself if you are slogging more slowly through your reading list than usual- you are busy growing another human being!
We didn't plan to do anything big, but it was nice. We picked up our favorite pad thai from Liang's Bistro and we ate it together at the actual kitchen table instead of in front of the tv! And we didn't really have any wine so we just drank our water from wine glasses, haha. I didn't bother buying H a card because he doesn't really care, but he surprised me with a card and a really cute balloon! The balloon has a picture on it that's a little inside joke between us. And the card was overly cheesy which isn't H's style, so he meant it as a funny (but still heartfelt gesture) It was actually an anniversary card but he crossed that out and wrote "Valentine's Day"- ha. He also brought some yummy brownies home from his job's "food day". So that was our V day!
My V-Day was great! Paige ate 2 plates of food for dinner then we wrestled in the bedroom for 2 hours. Its always fun till someone falls off the bed. Yes, she laughed at me on the floor
We had fun.
Tonight I got a date
OMG i miss Crumbs. I worked right by the one in Westfield NJ one semester and seriously would take my lunch breaks there. I also got Crumbs for Passover because they make kosher for Passover cupcakes!! In FL, I think people would look at me like I had 23 heads if I asked if they had kosher for Passover cupcakes....and ask what Passover was:(
My silly Lily is almost 4.
Omg! So so so sweet. You guys are such a beautiful family and you all looked great!
I really need to keep up with your blog more- both yours and Kim's!
Thanks

OMG....toooo cute!!
What a sweet, sweet idea! I love the pictures, Kate!
I absolutely LOVE this! I went to my friend's house where they make their own VDay celebration. They had flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, and all kinds of finger foods everywhere. Then they get together as a family and dress up, watch movies and eat. I thought it was super sweet too.
