Beach Themed Bridal Shower...

My friend is getting married in September and they are going for a seaside, beachy theme - ie sand dollars on the invitations etc - for the bridal shower one of the other bridesmaids and I (I'm the MOH) thought it would be cute to do a beach themed shower and I thought I'd see if you ladies had any ideas/suggestions that we could use.

If you have any suggestions or ideas regarding decor, food, etc please share :)

So far we're thinking of doing small sand pails (link below) with sugar in the raw (to look like sand) almost to the top, and a few seashell shaped chocolates laying on top as favors (wrapped in celophane).

I thought we could do a large sand bucket or DIY Paper Mache (sp?) Beach Ball for a "card box".

And for Invitations I thought these were cute: http://www.papeteriestore.com/item.php?item_id=439&category_id=60

 What do you ladies think?

Re: Beach Themed Bridal Shower...

  • Give everyone leis and play the "taboo words" game.  The game where you can't say the bride or groom's name, "wedding," and a few other select words. (My family also does the cannot cross your legs rule)  Others can call you out for saying or doing taboo actions and take your lei. The one with the most at the end of the shower wins a prize.

Food ... tropical fruits, shish kabobs, some awesome fruity beach drink.

Decoration ... Use those floating flower vases and put a tropical flower in them (hibiscus, plumeria, etc) and you could also put colored rocks in the bottom.

I really like your ideas so far!! Oh, to be back in the midst of wedding planning.

  • I hosted a beach themed shower for one of my friends that got married in Hawaii.  Oriental Trading had a lot of stuff (this was about 7 years ago, but I'm sure they still do).  We had it at a friend's house that has a pool.  Just a few things that I can remember: I got large decorated paper umbrellas and put them around the pool, leis, and these stretchy things that went around everyone's glasses so it looked like the glass had a grass skirt on.  It turned out really cute.

I like the idea about the sand pails with the sugar in the raw & candies!  The invites are cute too.
