Just wondering if anyone knows the area around D'youville College. Is it a "sketchy" or safe area? I'm moving soon and don't want to live too far away from the school because my husband and I only have one care. I'd love to be able to walk or quick bus to the area.
Re: Buffalo areas to rent
Sketchy.
But there is a nicer area close by - I'd stick to east of Elmwood and North of West Ferry, probably. We had an apartment on Auburn - right across from Nardin Academy and it was really nice. You would have no problem with finding busses on Elmwood.
I haven't heard of "Delaware Area"...Delaware Ave runs from downtown all the way out to the burbs. And there's also Delaware Park. There are big apartment buildings on Delaware ave - close to North and West Ferry - but I think you would be happier off of Elmwood. There are nice restaurants and shopping - it's a little trendy area.
And Buffalo has a TON of upper/lower houses - most of them were built in the 1920s when the steel industry was booming and the population exploded. Most of them are pretty big and have a very similar layout. I always liked living in uppers better because you hear a lot less noise...it's almost like living in your own ranch house...most will have a front porch as well. You're going to want off-street parking since the parking on the street in the city during winter SUCKS.
I'm usually on the upstate baby board and don't look here too often - so if you'd like details on a specific location...feel free to email me and I can tell you what I know
