time to AW or B!tch

So... how was your valentines day?

Did DH/SO to well or suck it up?  What did you do if there was no DH/SO around?

Re: time to AW or B!tch

  • DH and I agreed no gifts because we're saving $... only exchanging cards.

I picked my card out two weeks ago and it was perfect and had little tags he could pull for different 'deeds'.

So, I walk in the door after work and DH says "I didn't get you a card because HEB was totally picked over tonight".

    Awesome.

He went to HEB after work.   Not that he's much of a 'planner'... but come on!  He did get points with the homemade chocolate covered strawberries he made (I appreciate the budget conscience)  and a bottle of wine.

He has kept the wine flowing tonight... cause he thinks he's gonna get lucky.

    I think I'll stop typing now... ;-)

  • I got MH a sampler of root beer as a half-joke/half-sweet gift, but other than that we didn't celebrate at all. I'm about 5,000 words from being done revising my novel and I'm so focused on that, I texted him to pick up Rudy's for dinner. We both kind of suck at Valentine's Day.

  • DH is sick.  Like really sick.  I posted last week and he is still sick and has been since last Tuesday.  We have been to the doctor twice since then with no real diagnosis (tested for flu and strep).  It sucks.  He looks pitiful.  And since he had heart surgery last year, when he gets to feeling bad he starts having a panic attack.  So tonight he started having a panic attack because he feels that bad, which in turn was making it difficult for him to breathe.  I was able to calm him down but it sucks.  Not to mention, I am drowning in work.  I can not take off, at least til Thursday!  At this point I could really give a *** about Valentine's day.  I just want my DH better. Sad

  • DH did ok.  He doesn't like the VD concept BUT since I like it a little we compromise.:)  He made us some really good kebabs and brought home a GREAT Oregon pinot.. my fave.:)
  • our money is tight right now so no gifts this year. BF just started a new job with a company that does overhead music. He was training at a job at HEB in Georgetown yesterday. He called and asked if I could transfer money into his account because they were working over by the wine dept. He had noticed that the HEB employee seemed to be very knowledgable about wines and wanted to try wine for his first time. So...he brought home wine for us. I'm sorta thankful that he doesn't have the taste for it because I put away half the bottle and still have some for tonight! :)  I love this man! He's very much a guy's guy but has proven to be very thoughtful.
  • Fail.  DH had to work so he left me chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge.  They had red icing on them though, and I'm allergic to red food coloring so I couldn't eat them.  :(
  • Fail for DH. We're seperated so I'm not suprised but I would have thought he would have called the kids. He's never believed in VD so I shouldn't be that surprised. AW for my FIL who asked to take me and the kids to dinner at DD's favorite restaurant. Despite the ass that DH can be, his parents are great to the kids and myself.
  • Not bad.  DH cooked me dinner... nothing fancy but very good.  Ate dinner watching some DVRed shows on the couch with tv trays.  And some wine.  And some other stuff. :)

Thats awesome that he did that. Its great to have positive people around for the kiddos for days like that. Hopefully you were able to enjoy it as well.

  • This is rather embarassing but here goes.  For the past few years, our VD tradition has been to watch the Cheaters marathon while having some drinks and a lazy day.  This year, we were both frazzled from a long day so we just watched that and some other DVR'd showed and chilled at home.  It was pretty fantastic.

This weekend we're spending the weekend at Horseshoe Bay for a wedding so that's probably going to be the best VD I've had in a long time. I can't wait!

  • DH scheduled a couple's massage and it was great! We went to an early Italian dinner after that.

  • Dh did pretty good. He brought home my favorite bottle of wine and champagne. I had bought beef tenerloin for dinner and made his favorite cookies. We watched a movie together. Overall it was great. Perfect would have been if he brought home some flowers.
  • We decided to just do a joint gift that we could use .... like a game for the new wii or something like that. Since DH decided to start a new workout we bought him a weight set and a pull up bar instead. Wink

We went out this weekend for dinner and to the driving range, since he had to work last night. But we made a batch of margaritas last night and watched a movie.

  • We kept up with the usual tradition of homemade cards and then went and bought clearance candy for each other today.
  • I made dinner and bought him some fancy beer and a caramel apple from rocky mountain chocolate factory.  I realized right when I was about to start cooking dinner that I forgot something so he was nice enough to go to the store (this was about 630pm).  he bought me flowers while he was there, but I knew it was a total after-thought!  so he loses a few points for that. ;)

overall, we had a good night though - very mellow.

  • I had a pretty great valentines day. A friend of mine paid for me to go to Zumba with her last night. Then I met up with a different friend who actually cooked me dinner and got to hang out for the night. Overall it was great considering it was the first valentines day that I have been single in a very long time.
