Melissa

Talk to me about this magic sleepsuit...  Is Will too old for one? He still gets up at least 3 times a night.

  • They make 6-9 month sizes, so no, he's not too old!

Okay, so I was really skeptical about this Magic Sleepsuit, but I was desperate. It's kind of pricey ($40, but if you 'like' them on Facebook you get a code for 20% off). They claim like an 80% success rate or something, and it's fully refundable within 30 days. The owner of the company, Maureen is fantastic.

It's like a big snowsuit without hands or feet. It's fleece(ish) and puffy. It makes it difficult for them to flail their arms and legs around and encourages back sleeping. The theory behind it is that it creates a warm, snuggly environment much like being held or swaddled.

All I know is that a month after we first tried to put her in her crib and having her wake up every 45 minutes to two hours (even after I gave up and brought her back in bed with me, tried her on her own mattress in my bedroom, slept on the couch, etc.), I put her in her crib with this thing on Saturday night and she slept in three hour stretches (not great but an improvement). Did it again and the last two nights she's going 5 hour stretches and I'm only getting up once a night.

I'm putting her down drowsy and walking away. She does cry for a little bit but it's her "Hey, what's happening cry," not a heart wrenching "I need something" cry. We are nowhere near to CIO. I give her five minutes and if she's still crying, pick her up and shh her and put her back down (she always stops crying the second I pick her up). It has not taken longer than 10 minutes for her to be passed out.

I think their boy colors in 6-9 months are on backorder, but one of my bumpie friends said she messaged Maureen asking her when they were going to come in and she said she could sell them returned ones for half off.

  • Thanks for the info on the code. I bought one. I am desperate.  Kevin wants to try CIO, but I don't.  W sleep 45 minutes in his crib before he woke up screaming.  I then let him sleep in our bed as usual.

  • I was desperate, too. Clint thought I was crazy for buying it but I had to!

The other thing I have heard is it may take them awhile to get used to it. Some babies take to it right away, others need a couple of weeks. So if it doesn't work the first night, don't give up!
