Tomorrow - new cell phone legislation
Not sure if you guys heard/read about it, but starting tomorrow, people caught using their cell phones while driving not only get a ticket, but two points on their license.
I hope this changes peoples actions and also that it is enforced. I am really sick of seeing people drive around with blatant disregard for the law and the lives around them. On the flip side, in the past couple weeks I saw a couple people pulled over to talk on the phone, gives me hope.
Re: Tomorrow - new cell phone legislation
That is good! I hope they enforce it.
In DC we can't talk or text but they are called secondary offenses so you have to be pulled over for something else in order to get a ticket for the cell phone. In VA, we can talk on the phone but not text. We have bluetooth wired in our car and use it all the time but it drives me nuts when people drive and chat, legal or not, especially when trying to park or in traffic.
And you all are lucky that you have space to pull over and chat if need be! With all of our people and traffic mess as it is, it would be such a headache with people pulled over to chat. (Not that I wouldn't mind the safety but city streets just don't have room for the millions that roll through).
I agree. Overall, I think this is dumb. I think texting is WAY worse and should be a more punishable offense. I talk a lot while I drive and I am not distracted by it. I would be no less distracted with a hands free set.
