The Best Grilled Thing I Ever Ate

What was it and where can we get it? This should be at a restaurant not made by someone in your family because we wouldn't be able to try that. I'm going to come back because I have to think about this one...

ETA: Okay mine is the marinated, grilled eel at Sushi Groove in San Francisco. I hope this place still exists as I haven't been in a long time. It's in the Mission. I was very skeptical at first but it wasn't at all slimy and there was a nice crispness to the outside, the flavor was a little spicy but not much. I think they're an appetizer.

  • I don't think I've ever had anything that great grilled at a restaurant. So I'm going to break your rules and tell you something I've made that is fantastic and I'll tell you how to make it.

Tofu and pineapple kebobs. Yumyumyum. You cut the tofu into cubes, pressing it majorly in paper towels to get the liquid out. Marinate the cubes in half teriyaki sauce and half tamari sauce, then alternate with pineapple slices on a kebob and grill until tofu is crispy. Oh my.

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • DH took me to Station 1 in Portola Valley for a Christmas present. I had the most diggity bomb steak. It was wagyu beef with butternut squash puree. I *think* it was grilled.

Otherwise, nothing beats my dad's bbq. NOTHING.

  • I don't think this is the best thing but it's really good (and it's too early to think, ha-ha) but the salmon kebabs at Asqew Grill in Emeryville (Bay Street). So good with veggies (peppers, onion, and squash I think).

  • The best grilled thing I have ever had is the grilled cheese at Mimis Cafe. Does that count as something grilled? haha. It is soooo good and DH has figured out how to make them at home for me so we don't have to drive to Gilroy and pay $10 for one.

What's so great about this grilled cheese? How is it different?

It's made with 5 different cheeses and the trick that DH figured out is he puts cheese on the outside on the bread and grills it, as well as in between the two pieces. I really have no idea why I like it so much I just do lol
