Breakfast?

DH and I were having a conversation about breakfast this morning over breakfast. My whole life, I have woken up hungry and have to eat breakfast pretty much right away. I used to eat cereal or toast, but now I make an omelette or scrambled eggs with toast every morning. I notice I have a lot more energy throughout the day when I eat eggs for breakfast. If I eat nothing, I start feeling sick. DH, on the other hand, eats breakfast sometimes and sometimes doesn't.

So, just out of curiosity, what's your breakfast routine or do you go without?

Re: Breakfast?

  • I've always had breakfast, also. I get very cranky.

Lately I've been doing a bowl of cereal like grapenuts or raisin bran w/ some fruit on the side. BUT I switch it up. Starting today I am back on egg white/cheese/turkey sausage breakfast sandwiches (either from starbucks or jimmy dean d light, or if I am home, I make them). I definitely have more energy with protein for breakfast.

H rarely eats breakfast. Only on occasion on the weekends.

  • I've always had at the very least a nutri-grain bar.  Like you, I feel like crap the rest of the day if I don't eat something early.  Ever since I was pregnant though, I'm hungrier for more.  Usually a banana is added to my breakfast and by 9:30 or 10, I might have a small snack again.  When I was working, it was small bowl of oatmeal.

  • Hi!!  Hope everyones doing well - seeming like a slow day here so I'll pop in!

I always eat breakfast.   I try to have a coffee or 3 first when I get to work ( at 7 am) and hold off on eating until around 8, otherwise I get hungry for lunch too fast.  Recently I have been eating plain oatmeal with 1 tsp brown sugar and fresh blueberries and a banana ...so good!   My other staple is kashi cereal w. a banana.  Then I have another snack (usually fruit, nuts or raisins) around 10/11.

  • Unless you count a large Dunkin Donuts coffee as breakfast, I rarely eat it. Maybe I'll make breakfast on the weekends, I'll make omelets or waffles, possibly bacon and eggs.
  • I used to never eat breakfast, but started about two years ago. I go on oatmeal kicks, particularly if I'm watching my weight.

I have this struggle with whether to eat at home or work...I really love eating breakfast while I'm catching up on emails, but I'm usually hungry right off the bat. They started serving breakfast in the cafeteria right  before I went on maternity leave, so I regularly eat eggs, bacon or a muffin um...or AND a muffin).  Not really the healthiest of breakfasts, but oh well!

On the weekends I always make an omelet with toast.

  • We always ate breakfast when I was a kid, but when I was in 8th grade, we moved. I had so much anxiety about going to my new school that I couldn't eat breakfast. I got out of the habit and stopped being hungry in the morning, even when I was over the anxiety.

When I started drinking coffee, I'd drink that first thing, and it would be my breakfast. A few years ago, I started taking a granola bar or something with me to work and eating breakfast around 10. It gradually got earlier and earlier, until I was eating before leaving for work.

I still can't handle a big breakfast until later in the morning - if I cook it will be 9:30 or 10. Usually I'll have toast, cereal, granola bar, or something like that. Today, sour cream coffee cake (one of the reasons I ran out of eggs yesterday).

From Betty Crocker. My glaze didn't turn out that beautiful, but it is so yummy!

  • I always have to eat breakfast.  It fact, I'm starving the rest of the day if I don't.

Typically I eat Special K with redberries and throw in a banana.  That is my favorite, though sometimes we run out of bananas.

  • I'm a breakfast eater.  It's usually toast and for about the last two months it's been toast with peanut butter and jam and this morning I was feeling particularily fat so I just had ham (which I also have for lunch).  When I worked the hour drive away I would have a small snack (like a slice of cheese) when I got up and breakfast when I got to work so I could last until lunch.  Weekends it's usually something bigger or that takes longer to make.

DH is also a breakfast eater.  He used to eat Vector but now I've gotten him onto the PB&J on toast thing or granola.  When he ate Vector, he'd be STARVING by 10am.  Now he can make it through to later in the morning.

  • I was raised eating breakfast as a kid, but stopped my freshman year of college when I stayed up til 4 a.m. every night and had 9 a.m. classes every day. I just didn't have time to eat before class and wasn't yet a coffee drinker. It got to the point that I'd feel sick if I ate too early. Now I get coffee on the way to work, and maybe something small... a Special K bar or biscotti. I only eat "real" breakfast when I'm on vacation. Or when I'm dieting. Then I'll have a banana it oatmeal, but only after I get to work. Still can't eat too early.

    What is Vector?

I've never been a big breakfast eater, ever. Usually I'm good to go with just some coffee. Since getting pregnant though, I originally had to eat something to keep nausea at bay, but now it's just part of my routine. Usually just 1/2 an english muffin with peanut butter, or a whole one if I have more time, with a big tall glass of cold milk. I don't eat until I've showered and gotten dressed so it's kind of a last minute thing.

I'd love to have a big huge breakfast with eggs, sausage and hashbrowns every morning though. I would seriously love that!
