Hi ladies,
I am so excited about spring and summer that I started compiling a list of day trips that would be fun for me and the hubs. Any recommendations on where we should go?? I would say an hour to two hour drive would be the cut off. We're located near Chelmsford.
Thanks!
Re: Recommend some day trips
Mount Monadnock NH hike
Sturbridge Village MA
Isabella Stewart Gardiner Museum in Boston MA
Mystic Village Mystic CT sea tour (kind of far)
Rent Canoes in Rockport Ma
Block Island RI Ferry Ride (kind of far)
We've only lived in MA for a few years, and I love picking new cities to explore. The days usual involves some shopping, eating, and having a few beers. The beers help keep hubby happy while I shop
Some have already been mentioned: Portsmouth, NH.....Newburyport, MA.....Plymouth,MA.....Rockport, MA (nice, but a dry town...not good for hubby), close to Rockport is Gloucester (not a dry town)....York Beach, ME.......Salem, MA.
Cape Anne has a lot of great little towns, Essex is great for Antique shops.
Also love Gloucester, and the Rocky Point Art Colony. Grab dinner at the Franklin in Gloucester. YUM The Hammond Castle is fun.
Kennebunkport, and Ogunquit are a blast as well.
I like the DeCordova museum.
Lenox and Sturbridge are beautiful.
Amherst and North Hampton can be fun.
If you have children, the Eric Carle Museum is wonderful. (I don't have children, but I'm an elementary school teacher, and I'm obsessed with illustration art.)
The Arnold Arboretum is beautiful during the summer, and the Blue Hills are fun to hike.
The mansions, Rockport, Old Orchard Beach, Chatham, Six Flags, Salem, walk the Freedom Trail, Fanuiel Hall, Museum of Science.
I know you're looking for day trips, but to fly down to DC is like 45 mins and could easily be a fun little weekend trip. H and I did that a couple years ago and we really enjoyed ourselves. We spend a whole afternoon in one wing of one Smithsonian.
