Would this creep you out?
We have a bay window in our breakfast room that's open to the backyard. In the rest of our house, we have faux wooden blinds, but when we bought the house the bay window had cheap plastic blinds. We have since found out that this is because you can't mount the wooden blinds to the bay window (not enough depth). I've looked at shades, but I'm thinking about just taking the blinds down altogether and just letting that window be open. We have a nice garden and roses in the backyard, so it would actually be nice to see the flowers more. Is it creepy to have a window totally open? Would that weird you out?

If it was in the front I would say use blinds, but we always had one in the back growing up and never had them. We loved looking outside.

I have a bay window in the front and i have the same problem. Right now I've just kept the plastic blinds but I've thought about taking them down.
I don't think it's creepy.
We have a bay window in our kitchen that faces the backyard (not that we have a backyard!)....it was naked for a loooong time. I have roman shades up now which most times are at least 1/2 pulled up to let in some light.
I had to mount the roman shades to the outside of the window and they look just fine. Have you considered that option if you really want something on them?

I looked at this with the wooden blinds. We'd have to mount them on top of the trim and that just looks weird to me. Blinds or shades sticking out past the sides of the windows is fine to me, but on top just looks strange.
Our backyard meets our neighbors backyard, if that makes sense. If we had a field or trees behind us, I don't think I'd question it, but with another yard behind us I'm just not positive. We want a fence eventually, but there are other projects ahead of that.
Oh, I see. We don't have trim on our windows, so that makes a big difference. Are you opposed to doing a woven wood blind (like bamboo or something similar)...the top may not be quite as thick as regular wood blinds.
