We delivered our proposal to the missions committee at church last week. They are all supposed to read it, write down their thoughts, questions, concerns, and then invite us to their next meeting so we can discuss. Then, if they decide to back us, they will present it to the church. We talked to most of them on Sunday, and they were all very positive about it.
Rodgers is still looking at real estate online every day. Every time he finds a big house or an acre or two of land for sale, he gets all dreamy. His most recent find would need some renovations, but is very close to a supermarket and walking distance to the beach! Not that we're buying it, but he's dreaming about living there, and me driving our RAV4 to the supermarket to load up on pantry items - not likely. I really don't have any desire to drive in Kenya. SCARY!
Our pastor gave the proposal to our association missions director - that's the guy who advises a group of churches in the area on missions projects (among other things).
The blog is now live. I'll be sharing stories of why we want to do this and what we actually want to do. http://maishakamilimombasa.blogspot.com/
Re: Kenya orphanage update
Oh I'm so glad you started a blog for it!
Very exciting about presenting the proposal. Definitely keep us updated.
I can't wait to starting following your blog! It already is off to a great start.
I give you both credit for the lives that you have created together. It is very amazing! I don't know if I could be as strong as you both are with putting others way before yourselves.
The Sand in My Snow Boots
Absolutely. I think it is so wonderful that you're both dedicated to making a difference where Rodgers came from. So selfless.
