Does anyone here garden?

I really want to grow some vegetables now that we have some outdoor space, but I worry that there's not enough direct sunlight to be successful.

Re: Does anyone here garden?

  • I don't, but I have a good friend who is an "urban farmer". She lives near the Rosedale area and farms in her backyard, essentially!  If you're interested, I could see if she wouldn't mind chatting you up via email and giving you some tips.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • DH and I pretend too. One of our favorite places to go for ideas is Natural Gardener. Everyone that works there is very knowledgeable and helpful. They are in the OakHill area. Worth the drive just to walk around.

  • Thanks guys! I actually found a few websites last night that gave me some more info. I need to pay more attention to the sun tosses what % of the day is direct to see what we can plant.

and just a heads up at Home Depot they label the plants/seeds that will take partial, full sun etc. Its still on the edge of being a little too early for spring but on the back end of the winter plants that die when it warms up. Might want to wait a few more weeks unless you are seeding inside.

  • Thanks for the heads up! We won't be planting for a while - we want to move the flower bed which will be snug pain.
