Would this make me a bad doggie mom?
MY H normally comes home for lunch every day to let the dog out. Next week he's not able to come home at all for lunch. Normally in this type of situation we would take the dog to doggie daycare. However, right now we just don't have the money in the budget for daycare. Things are pretty tight right now. Hudson is 2 years old now and is used to going all night without using the bathroom from about 8PM-6AM (and even longer on weekends), so I know he can hold it. I still feel bad though. He would be going from about 6:30AM-5:00PM without a bathroom break. He should be ok though...right? Don't other dogs stay home all day without a break?
Re: Would this make me a bad doggie mom?
He should be fine...it doesn't make you a bad mom.
The only thing you may consider is not leaving too much water out. I know my dog has gotten used to holding it that long-so much that he doesn't drink much water throughout the day, but Hudson may drink a lot not "realizing" he's not going out.
Copper would have loved to meet Hudson at daycare next week though hehe
Thanks ladies!
We may still take him on Monday, just so he's tired out for the next few days while he gets used to his new schedule during the day (we just can't afford all 5 days next week). Will Copper and the foster pups be there on Monday?
I definitely think he would be fine. Both mine can go all day without a potty break. Although I usually do go home for lunch....Buddy only goes to daycare every other thursday.
You are not a bad doggie mom
Lots of times we go out for the day and they have to stay home. They are fine...even my almost 12 year old female....she just sleeps all day. hahaha....good luck hudson!
No
We can only take them Tu/Thurs. I'm sure they'll meet sometime soon.
That is a great idea about tiring him out though
What kind of dog is it? Oh wait a lab? If its a lab, no worries.
When it rains my dog decides to not go out ALL day. Like literally 18 hours, haha. Plus, she is often home without a pee for very very very long stretches. I feel guilty but nothing we can do about it.
Actually, when I get home around 5 or so, she usually is so excited that she doesn't even go out until after dinner (6:30-7) so a good 10 hours.
If its a small dog... I don't know
