Unpopular Opinion Thursday
It's UO Thursday! They do this over on the Bump, so I thought I'd bring it over here....
What's your unpopular opinion? (About anything!)
Re: Unpopular Opinion Thursday
HOWEVER, I do believe in the second part of the bill that says state employees should be asked to pay more for their heath insurance etc. They just about pay nothing for coverage for their families, whereas DH and I, on our separate plans because it's cheaper, pay $150 a month.
We make similar salaries so it's not like the argument "well, teachers don't make enough so you can't ask them to pay more" really is valid. Besides there are plenty of people who make less and pay more for their insurance. If we all can make it work, then they can too.
If that helps balance the budget and SAVE JOBS, I am all for it.
PS I did not vote for our governor.
I don't think there should be tax deductions or credits for having kids.

I'm on the fence with unions, but I definitely agree with tenure.

I'm so torn on healthcare. I pay almost $900 a month for Pat and I...two healthy adults (my company doesn't kick in much). While I don't think that's right, I'm at least glad I have access to coverage.
We just learned here in Maine that toll booth workers on the highway make a ridiculous amount (28 over $100k). Also their payroll has increased 72% while the private sector has risen 46%. We wonder why our state is in such trouble?
A toll collecting job should basically be a minimum wage job with a differential for overnights. That job is a glorified cashier, but they get to sit in their booth and watch portable tv's. I don't see my grocery store cashiers getting that luxury, why do my toll booth cashiers?

I think that organic foods are a fad that will pass with time.
I think it is ridiculous that Obama has deregulated 3 GMO crops in the last month.
The studies that have been done in other countries have shown TERRIBLE terrible health problems associated with GMO's so why can't we freaking put them on our labels or at least regulate them here in the US.
Oh yeah, because all of the big companies that produce them are in the govt's pockets (it was the same way when Bush was president too)
on the healthcare front, I wish it was mandatory that IF coverage is included or have the choice to pay into it. I am willing to pay more if it means I get 100% IF coverage (I only get 50%).
I am not pro-union...esp the union @ my work. They care about more about getting members' fees than representing their members.
Ditto! Thanks for typing this out.

Haha, I was curious as to what your opinion on this was!
