Do you have a "Spot"?
Do you always sit in the same chairs, even though you have more than 2 chairs at the table, you guys tend to always sit in the same seats?
The couch.. you have more than a loveseat, but yet you two still migrate to the same seats any time you plop down for the evening?
Side of bed? Do you sleep on the same side every night? Is there a reason or did it happen.
...You get the point. Talk to me about unassigned seats that you have now assigned yourselves.
Re: Do you have a "Spot"?
This post is brought to you by an awkward event at work that trickled home last night.
The regular group of 10 of my coworkers and I meet in our board room. For no other reason than habit, the 10 of us sit in the same seat every week even though they were not assigned specifically to us. Yesterday, we had a "guest speaker" and when she came in she sat next to me, in "Jesse's" seat. It flustered everyone, ev-er-yyyy-one. It was awkward and strange. After the meeting everyone was still saying that it was weird that it caused 4 people to "shift" their seats.
How does it happen that a "spot" becomes yours, even though it wasn't assigned.. and remember how we all loathed assigned seats in school, yet now we migrate to a seat we proclaim as MINE.
As most of you know, I am totally insane (as are most of the people I work with) so even up in the break room, when someone is new and sits in someone else's "spot" it's weird. It's like we're all just sitting there waiting for that person's lunch hour to be over, so we can all get comfortable again. LMAO Seriously, this just happened quite a few times over the past month, with a new girl. You can seriously feel the tension in the room when it happens. It's funny.
But yeah, even at home, Keith has his spot on the couch, and I get the big chair.
And we eat at the same spots at the dining room table and even at my mom and dad's, when we have dinner there.
And we have certain sides of the bed. Keith usually sleeps closest to the bedroom door, but I have an actual side that I prefer (if you're standing facing the foot of a bed, "my side" would be on your right.) This has only cause an issue with the setup of our first house. Keith won and got to sleep closest to the door, but I had to sleep on "not my side" for 5 years. It sucked. lol Our bed is a King size and the bedroom was too small to have it any other way.

LOL... totally.
At my previous company we had unofficial parking spots; we'd all be annoyed or flustered if someone took our place. If someone took mine I'd hijack it back when they went to lunch to restore order.
DH and I have our specific sides of the bed - it originated from me getting up earlier than he does, so wanting to not stumble in the dark between furniture to go to the bathroom put me on the side closer to the bathroom. Whenever I'm traveling DH totally returns to my side of the bed (his fav side)...
We also totally sit in the same seats at the kitchen table, and on the couch. We're creatures of habit.
We have 8 chairs at our dining room table.. 8.. and we still sit in the same two every single time. Even when people are over, those are OUR chairs.
Our couch seats 9 people.. yup.. we sit in the exact same two spots every single time.
Bed.. we "delcared" our sides back in the apartment days for no other reason than habit and it stuck as soon as we moved in to our home. Even when we are away, we sleep on our particular sides.
ETA: We have chairs around our table.. not cars. Thank you, T-Payne!
We have our sides in bed even tho I try to take up the whole thing, he's on the side near the door, I joke with him that If someone breaks in they will get his first that way lol...it has more to do with my side table has the lamp, and I tend to stay up later then him so I get to control the lamp! but we do the same thing when we go places or stay with family.
we don't tend to sit at the dinner table, unless we have guest over. and then it's kinda a free for all, not to picky about the table. Side note I get the broken chair...cause I'm the smallest and lightest so I tend to move the chair were to whichever side Im sitting on...if that counts!
The couch I get the side with the end table.
OK, I TOTALLY thought this post was going a different direction when I read the title. Guess my mind is in the gutter today! :-D
More than anything the "unofficial" parking spots at work drive me more insane than anything. We have a lot of temps that come and go every few weeks and without fail, one of them ALWAYS seems to park in "my" spot. I can't stand pulling up to work and seeing my spot taken. I decided that there are more important things in life though so I've since claimed a new spot.
Chavis wanted to sleep on the side of the bed closest to the door, but I absolutely HAVE to sleep closest to the bathroom for some reason and since they are on the same side now, I won. :-)

Wow - you must have a HUGE dining room! ;-)
We do the same thing when people are over. We only have 4 chairs at our dining room table, but when our friends come over and eat with us (really the only 2 people who ever have dinner with us at our house) we all four have our own spots. And when we go to their house, we even have our own spots on their couch too. lol

We have our sides and spots all over the house. Its weird we try to change it up. Its like our feng shui is all messed up if we do.
I'm not sure what is funnier..... I literally stated typing my explanation that it's actually an over-sized square table so it's not that huge............. and then I realized I said cars.
Brooke & Montana.. and any other dirty-minder
Someone do a S/O spots post and let's talk this out ladies lol
I'm in that boat, too...as a matter of fact, that is totally why I opened this post to begin with!
We have "our" spots staked out all over the house, and it even extends to the restaurants we visit regularly. We have "our" table, where we sit in the same spots every. Single. Time. You should see all of us just look at each other in complete confusion whenever someone else is sitting where we usually sit!
This definitely extends to our bed. Last year, I broke my ankle and was in a cast for the the first two weeks. It was harder than heck for me to get out of bed with the cast on, much less hobble the few steps to my crutches and across the hall to the bathroom, so DH let me have his side of the bed, which was closer to the door. Neither of us slept worth a darn until that stupid cast came off and the walking boot was in place.
Me too. =P
We sit in the same spots at the dining table, but I do try to rotate the chairs every now and then because they have seat cushions and I don't want two of them to look all worn while the others look new.
I sleep on the left side of the bed (if you're looking at it). I had no other reason to ask for this setup than the thought of getting pregnant in the future and needing the side closest to the bathroom. LOL
We don't have specific spots on the couch, but I like to be by the end table if I have a drink to set down.
