How do you decide what to use to store breast milk? Does it depend on the pump you use?
If it doesn't depend on the pump, what do you use and why did you choose it?
Re: Breastmilk storage
I know that some pumps work well with certain storage bags, so for some people, that may be a factor in their freezer bag choice. For me, I preferred to pump into the Medela storage containers, as I felt I could get a more accurate volume measurement from them...so I never considered the storage bags in conjunction with the pump, allowing me to choose whatever freezer bags I wanted. (I liked the Lanisoh bags)
I chose the Medela containers because I have a Medela pump, and because they're so readily available (at Target, BRU, etc.). I chose the Lanisoh bags because I liked that they stood up easily, and they held up well (whereas some others get leaks).
Although, BM can stay in the fridge for up to seven days (*I think*), I always froze milk I knew I wasn't going to use within a day or so. Building up a stash of liquid gold was crucial for a night out or a feeding away from the kiddo. It can also help in the event of a growth spurt when they are starving. :-)
